Borough Manager Timi Kirchner and Councilwoman Mary Fuller answered questions at an Economic Development Committee/Communication Commission regarding the status quo of the proposed BID, and its contract with Delta Development.
Development of a Business Improvement District in Lansdale, directed via a steering committee, is "on hold" because the borough is doing a lot at present. In her answer to a question posed to the Economic Development Committee/Communication Commission last week by Democratic council candidate Liz Troy, Borough Manager Timi Kirchner said the BID steering committee had met "once or twice" with contracted firm Delta Development. In February 2012, Delta Development was contracted $43,000 to develop a Business Improvement District. However, at the meeting, Troy incorrectly referred to the amount being $50,000. "The project is on hold right now," Kirchner said, "because we had so many other projects moving forward. We will get back to that …

Lansdale Borough Council will vote on the recommended members Wednesday
A Business Improvement District is closer to formation in downtown Lansdale. The Economic Development Committee on Monday unanimously recommended council approve a 13-member sterring committee for the BID. The members recommended to the committee are: Businesses in a BID pay an additional tax or fee to fund aesthetic improvements within the boundaries. Businesses can take advantage of incentives, like tax abatements, or grant programs to assist in required BID fees. These incentives can also bring in new businesses. The branding survey revealed residents and consumers outside the borough believe the borough needs more retail variety, an upkeep of appearances and attractive storefronts. Fuller said Monday night that the steering committee …

Delta Development Group, who is assessing the borough's parking, will develop a plan for a Business Improvement District. Council voted 7-2 to approve the contract
The 311 W. Main Task Force is still in the early stages of finding the purpose – and the funding – of the former arts center on Main Street. North Star Destination Strategies is still in the early stages of finding the identity and brand of Lansdale Borough. BPG Properties Ltd. is still in the preliminary stages of designing a retail Mecca and parking garage at Madison Parking Lot. With all that on their plate, borough council found room to approve this month a $40,000 contract with Delta Development Group to design and assess a Business Improvement District in downtown Lansdale. If Delta Development Group sounds familiar, that’s because it is the group contracted by the Lansdale Parking Authority to develop a parking improvement plan in …
Borough Manger Timi Kirchner has more guidelines toward her borough code-enforced purchasing power, and retains her power to request or not request proposals for contractual work
Lansdale Borough Manager Timi Kirchner now has more guidelines toward her purchasing power in the borough. Not only that – Kirchner continues her authority to put out or not put out Requests for Proposals for specific borough contractual services. Council this month approved unanimously the approval of a purchasing manual for the borough for the procurement of services and bids. Councilmen Rich DiGregorio and Jack Hansen, both Democrats from Ward Two, were dissenters earlier in the meeting when they said Kirchner's power to decide whether or not an RFP should be required for professional consultancy should be removed from the purchasing manual. Mayor Andy Szekely – who can vote to break a tie and veto an ordinance – proposed that the power…
