Montgomery Mall hosted a National Law Enforcement Week community event
Shoppers at the Montgomery Mall had a bit of added security Saturday afternoon, as members of local police departments took over the main lobby for a National Law Enforcement Week community event. The five-hour event featured multiple K-9 demonstrations by the Montgomery Township Police Department, tactical response demonstrations by North Penn and Montgomery County S.W.A.T. team members, and a variety of community outreach programs and services, including child safety and anti-bullying information. Wiffle ball, car washes and Arbor Day. Is summer here or what?

Montgomery Elementary sixth graders hold a car wash today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fire Department of Montgomery Township also holds a car wash from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its two stations: 202 and Montgomery Drive, and 325 Stump Road. 2. The Great Strides walk takes place today at 10 a.m. at Central Park in Doylestown. Great Strides is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. 1. North Penn DUI Task Force held a mock DUI accident reenactment to illustrate to North Penn High School students the dangers of drinking and driving. The American Kenpo and kickboxing studio in Upper Gwynedd raised money for charity Save the Children Saturday.
AmeriKick Karate, at 1551 S. Valley Forge Road in the North Penn Marketplace, held a kick-a-thon last Saturday to raise money for Save the Children. The goal was to raise $3,000 for charity by collecting pledges and performing 1,000 kicks during the 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. event. In addition to this fundraising event, AmeriKick's Lansdale location held free classes, a complimentary self-defense seminar, giveaways, and a prize drawing. Top prizes were a free year of lessons and an iPod Nano engraved with the AmeriKick Lansdale name. Check out our video, and come back tomorrow for our Viewfinder gallery.
