Miss Greater Rockville, Katlyn Lewicke, is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. A graduate of Smith College, Lewicke is an active volunteer with a number of CSA-related organizations and has assisted on related research and administrative initiatives. She is a native of Pennsylvania and was, like millions of others, angered at the Penn State sexual abuse revelations, as well as moved by the plight of the victims. She sat down on Friday with Vernon Patch to record an open message to former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, who has been convicted of sexual misconduct. Bridgeport Couple Accused of Starving Son

The 6-year-old boy weighed 29 pounds, his skin was flaking off and his stomach was swollen

According to several media outlets, Victor and Olaifa Ramos, of Bridgeport, are facing charges including simple and aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal conspiracy for starving their 6-year-old son. The boy weighed only 29 pounds when doctors at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia encountered him. According to ABC Action News, the investigation into the couple began three months ago when the couple brought the boy to CHOP at death's door. Sandusky Guilty: Is It the Right Call?

  Disgraced ex-Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky was found guilty on 45 counts of child sex abuse Friday night, resulting in an effective life sentence for the 68-year-old. The guilty verdicts include 25 felony counts. Combined, Sandusky could be sentenced to 442 years in prison. Dressed in a brown sports coat, Sandusky immediately was taken into custody and led from the courthouse in handcuffs. The jury—which included many people with close ties to Penn State—deliberated for only 20 hours on 48 charges against Sandusky. The two-week trial featured damning testimony against Sandusky, who was accused of performing anal and oral sex on boys as young as 8. Victims Benefit A Success For Montco BACA

Bikers Against Child Abuse exceed last year's Victims Benefit total.

The Montgomery County chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse held their Fifth-annual Victims Benefit on Saturday night, packing the ballroom at Third and Walnut and raising over $1,600 for child abuse victims and local charities. "We all feel that it was a big success," said Richard Bennett, president of the Montco BACA. "We had some good friends get together to raise money for a great cause. We also want to offer a big thank you to Mike from Third and Walnut for all he has done for us." Bikers Against Child Abuse To Hold Annual Victims' Benefit

The 5th-Annual benefit will be held on March 24 at Third and Walnut in Lansdale from 7 to 11 p.m.

It's that time of year again! The Montgomery County chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse will hold their 5th-Annual Victim's Benefit on Saturday, March 24, at Third and Walnut in Lansdale. The group was recently honored by the Montgomery Bar Association, who presented them with the Honorable Milton O. Moss Public Service Award for their efforts in the community. "The money we raise is donated directly to victims of child abuse, as well as the Victim's Service Center in Norristown, the Laurel House and Mission Kids," said Richard Bennett, president of the Montco chapter.
