Whites Road Park would be a safety issue for the Christmas lights display, so the organizers walked Madison and Main streets to get an idea of a potential new location
With visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads, stakeholders in the Lights in Lansdale Christmas light extravaganza took a walk along Madison Street to discuss their visions for the new avenue of lights. Originally titled "Lights on Whites", the display is now being discussed as a potential three-phase project, with the focus of year one being on a decorative loop from Main Street through Madison Street. Year two would expand to the Wood-Vine connector, which will nearly double the display, and the third year will be the piece-de-resistance, with the display running the Madison Street loop, the Wood-Vine connector and ending with the Lights on Whites display. “We want to make Lansdale a gigantic Christmas town,” said Keith Heffintrayer…

Lansdale residents Keith and Kristen Heffintrayer have a bright idea for a new holiday event at White's Road Park
Lansdale residents Keith and Kristen Heffintrayer have a bright idea for in wintertime. The couple proposed an event to the Lansdale Borough Economic Development Committee Monday night – Lights on White’s. The concept: a Christmas light display located along the walking trail of White’s Road Park during the holiday season of 2012. “Honestly, we were just tired of driving up to Allentown each year,” Keith said of the inspiration for the Lansdale event, referencing that city’s “Lights in the Parkway” annual event. “Lansdale already has established holiday traditions, including the tree lighting at Railroad Plaza, the Santa House, the lights and decorations down Main and Broad, and the recently-added Lansdale Business Association’s Holiday …

An oldie, but a goodie. This is just so awesome
Here's something to liven up your weekend. Just watch and listen. An oldie but a goodie. Lansdale Borough has its annual Christmas tree lighting, the Santa House and the Lansdale Business Association Holiday Festival of Trees to liven up the Christmas season. Now, it has Gene Rose's house too. For the second year in a row, Rose set up his fantastic light display at his Perkiomen Avenue home, complete with synchronized music. All you had to do was tune in to 90.7 FM. “I’ve heard a lot of positive comments about it this year,” he said. “I think it’s something different for the town. I’m happy as long as everybody’s happy. I like to bring a little more joy to those around.” Rose was inspired by a similar display he saw in New Jersey. With his…

Nothing says "warmth" like Christmas lights
With Christmas only a few days away, the streets and roads throughout the borough are aglow with lights and decorations. Some prefer the minimalistic approach to Christmas displays, while others aim to make Clark Griswold blush. Regardless, there's nothing like walking down a well-decorated street before Christmas, so we've put together a gallery of various Christmas displays throughout Lansdale. Was your home captured in our lens? Check the gallery to find out!

Gary Pinkos, of Thames Drive, wins the Grand Prize 'Car Stopper' award
During Wednesday night's Christmas Celebration at the Montgomery Township building, the winners of the eighth-annual Holiday Lights contest were announced, with Gary Pinkos taking the grand prize with his "Dancing Lights" display. "I'm amazed – blown away," said Pinkos, after he was announced as the winner. "I put a lot of effort into trying to be the 'Car Stopper' for years. When I saw the other lady who usually wins not win, my heart sunk." Pinkos said he had more than 20,000 lights on his home, and he typically works on the display up until the day before the township places their votes. "The joy it gives to the friends, neighbors, and people who drive by," said Pinkos, when asked what motivates him to put so much time and effort into…
