Citizens' Police Academy Course Graduates 12

Participants took a 9-week Montgomery Township course on police work

Montgomery Township's Citizens' Police Academy wrapped up on Wednesday night with a graduation ceremony at the township building. Patrolman Rob Johnson thanked the participants and the rest of his police colleagues for making the program successful. "This is the seventh one we've done," Johnson said. "They [the participants] learn a little bit of everything." The class members had the opportunity to learn about drug enforcement, financial crimes, working with K9 officers, processing crime scenes and many other facets of police work. "People do sometimes come in with preconceived ideas about police work, and then they see how much time it really takes to investigate a crime," Johnson said. 1. Montgomery Township Police Department begins its Citizens Police Academy tonight and every Wednesday to May 2, 2012 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the township administration building. Montgomery Township Citizens Police Academy coming in March

The 10-week academy will introduce participants to everything and anything about police operations

If you ever wondered what it's like to be a cop, now's your chance. From March 2 to May 4, the Montgomery Township Police Department will hold its annual Citizen Police Academy. The academy is free to township residents, business owners and non-residents employed within the township. Applicants must be 18 years old and each applicant will be subject to a criminal history background check as a pre-requiste to the academy. Chief Richard Brady has final approval of applications and reserves the right to deny entry to any applicant. The acdemy will introduce students to patrol procedures, firearms, crime scene processing, canine operations, S.W.A.T. operations, accident investigations, drug investigations and financial crimes.
