Lansdale Borough Hall and Lansdale Police Station are in dire need of new layouts and a total of $3 million in new construction, as reported in a facilities study Wednesday by Spiezle Architectural Group.
During a time where Lansdale Borough is tasked with finding a future purpose and solution for the money pit known as 311 W. Main Street, Lansdale's leaders received another shock to their systems Wednesday night regarding the conditions of Lansdale Borough Hall and Lansdale Police Station. Lansdale Police Station does not work as a police station, according to Spiezle Architectural Group Inc., and needs 77 percent more space. Not to mention there's a major termite infestation in the areas of secure records storage and no fire alarm system. Borough hall is below par and could offer health hazards for its occupants. Water leaks in all directions on the exterior, but the interior looks better than it is. Borough hall, which was originally the…

Lansdale staff, the borough engineer, and councilmen met with affected taxpayers of West Fourth Street in preparation for an upcoming Community Development Block Grant project
By May 7, residents of West Fourth Street between Broad Street and Walnut Street in Lansdale will be inconvenienced for four months because of the replacement of sanitary lines, storm sewer lines, water lines and new curbs and sidewalk. Everything's good for now. A construction charrette Monday night at Lansdale United Methodist Church with those affected residents brought some things to the forefront and those residents can now sit a little easier knowing what's to come. "I do appreciate this," said renter Nancy Logan, who resides at 20 W. Fourth Street. "It's better than having no communication." Borough Manager Timi Kirchner said the charrette was very successful. "I had a number of people thank me for having it," she said. "We were …

The 311 W. Main Task Force spent two hours discussing how things could look inside the former arts center, but how will they fund it all?
The Lansdale 311 W. Main Task Force spent 105 minutes Tuesday night discussing green room locations, portable dressing rooms, bathroom layouts, sloped theaters, soundboard setups, expanding theaters to more than 300 seats, moveable chairs, flexible mutli-purpose theaters, food courts and art. At the end, borough council vice president Paul Clemente said he supported the arts, and the efforts are all well and good. Then, he asked a big question: Where's the money? "I have a simple question that piggybacks off of (Montgomery County Planner Brian) O’Leary's, and that is this whole discussion seems to be very academic thus far because nobody’s talking about where the funding is coming from," Clemente said. "We have an estimate that’s $4.5 …
