Man Injured in Montgomery Township Crash Friday

The two-vehicle accident occurred at Horsham and Stump roads in Montgomery Township.

A man suffered a head injury and was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital following a crash on eastbound Horsham Road near Stump Road Friday morning, according to The Reporter. The man was driving an Audi, which crashed into the rear of a utility truck that was stopped in traffic, the article states. Read more at this link.

Towamencin Man Killed in Overnight Crash

The accident took place in Salford Township Tuesday morning on Route 563. Ryan Petrille, 21, was killed in the crash.

An Upper Gwynedd man was killed early Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash in Salford Township, Pennsylvania State Police said. Police said Ryan Alexander Petrille, 21, was a passenger in a 2000 Honda Civic being driven by Sean Christopher Sperl, also 21, on Route 563 shortly after midnight. According to police, Sperl, of Lansdale, was traveling at a "high rate of speed" and "failed to negotiate a curve" in the road. The car struck a utility pole and was torn in half, ejecting Petrille from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Montgomery County Coroner's office. Reports: Meteor Spotted Over DC, New York, New England

People who spotted the apparent meteor described it as a bright, colorful object streaking across the night sky.

Twitter was abuzz Friday night with reports of a large, bright meteor streaking across the night sky over the Eastern Seaboard. Several readers told NBC4 that they spotted the meteor just before 8 p.m. Friday. Twitter user Brenton Laverty described it as a huge, green meteor burning up over DC. Another user from Montgomery County, PA—E. Steven Collins—described the object as "Bright. Orange. Blue. White. Silver. Totally streaking by the sky light! Wow!" According to several outlets, the object may have qualified as a fireball, defined by the American Meteor Society as a "very bright meteor, generally brighter than magnitude -4, which is about the same magnitude of the planet Venus in the morning or evening sky." DA to Investigate Fatal Crash

No charges have been filed yet in the Monday afternoon crash that took the life of a 40-year-old woman while she was jogging in Limerick Township.

District Attorney Risa Ferman's office has begun an investigation into a fatal crash that took the life of a 40-year-old woman on Monday. Lansdale Teen Uninjured in Ridge Pike Crash

The victims, a mother and her two children, suffered what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Last updated 9:10 p.m. Thursday A mother and her two young children were injured Thursday evening in a two car collision on Ridge Pike in Upper Providence Township. Officer Scott Reynolds of the Upper Providence Township Police department said the injured driver, a woman in her 20s, and her two children sustained what he described as non-life-threatening injuries. The mother and children were from "the Collegeville area," Reynolds said. Reynolds said the male driver of the second car, a 17-year-old from Lansdale, was not injured. Felony Theft Case Against Pottstown Teen Heads to Trial

Jeremiah White, 19, of the 400 block of North Charlotte Street, allegedly stole a Ford Expedition on Jan. 5 from Norristown, and later crashed it in a Hatfield Township accident, police said.

Jeremiah White's stomach allegedly got him in trouble with the law — and he is now headed to county trial on, among other offenses, a felony receiving stolen property charge. White, 19, of the 400 block of North Charlotte Street, Pottstown, waived charges of felony receiving stolen property, misdemeanor accidents involving damage to another vehicle, failing to stop and render aid and following a vehicle too closely Tuesday at Montgomery Township district court, according to The Reporter. White is free on $10,000 unsecured bail, which District Judge Andrea Duffy granted at his preliminary hearing, according to court records. Jeremiah White's stomach allegedly got him in trouble with the law. A Popeye's receipt and a cell phone left behind in a stolen 1998 Ford Expedition involved in a Hatfield Township accident led to the arrest of the suspect — a Pottstown teen. Jeremiah White, 19, allegedly stole a 1998 Ford Expedition from Norristown on Jan. 5, 2013, crashed it on Jan. 18 in Hatfield Township and then allegedly fled from the scene of the accident, police said. Now, he faces felony charges in Montgomery County court. 309 Crash Causes Fuel Spill

Northbound lanes, Upper State Road affected by cleanup; tractor-trailer said to be "t-boned" by pickup truck

An indeterminate amount of diesel fuel had leaked into a Montgomery storm drain on Monday afternoon following a collision between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck at the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Upper State Road. Personnel from the Montgomery Township Public Works department and the Fire Department of Montgomery Township had attempted to soak up some of the fuel spill with sand and could be seen accessing the sewer through a manhole. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Mike Wells of Lubbock, Tx., said he had been proceeding northbound on Route 309 at about 35-40 miles per hour when he was struck on the right side by a black Toyota Tundra pickup truck headed south on Upper State Road. Montgomery Man Hits Tree, Arrested for Suspicion of DUI

Danny Chiu, 34, of the 100 block of Gwynmont Drive, has charges pending results of blood testing

A Montgomery Township man was arrested for suspicion of DUI in a crash in Whitpain Township on Dec. 23 at 3:29 a.m. Danny Chiu, 34, of the 100 block of Gwynmont Drive, left the roadway on the 500 block of Stenton Avenue and struck a tree, police said. During the investigation, it appeared Chiu had been drinking, police said. Blood was drawn for lab testing at Mercy Suburban Hospital, police said. Marijuana and paraphernalia were also found on Chiu, police said. Charges of DUI, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia are pending upon return of lab results, police said.
