Forty Flu Related Deaths in Pa. This Season

Four dead in Montgomery County; the most recent was a 26-year-old Lansdale man, who died at Abington Memorial Hospital.

  The influenza outbreak in Montgomery County has claimed its fourth and youngest victim of the flu season. 26-year-old Andrew Pogoda died Jan. 3 at Abington Memorial Hospital, according to WTXF FOX 29 [link goes to video report]. Pogoda suffered from asthma, which complicated doctors' efforts to help him recover from the illness. The other three victims of the flu in Montgomery County have been among the elderly. Health officials have recommended that everyone over the age of six months be vaccinated. Montgomery County health officials recently expanded the hours for free vaccination at sites around the county. The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported earlier this week that 40 people have died from influenza-related causes in the …

Lee Wagenhoffer, 24, of Lansdale, 2006 LC Grad

Lansdale resident Lee Wagenhoffer, 24, of Knapp Road, died suddenly Dec. 1, 2012. According to a WFMZ tribute, Wagenhoffer was a 2006 Lansdale Catholic graduate. He graduated from Temple University with a bachelor's in business administration, with a focus on accounting, in 2010. Perkasie Cop Who Shot Marino Still on Leave

Officer Seth Mumbauer remains on leave through an internal investigation by Peraksie Borough Police

Seth Mumbauer, the Perkasie Borough Police officer who fired the fatal shot at Michael W. Marino June 9 in Sellersville, remains on administrative leave during an internal police department investigation, according to Bob Keeler of The Souderton Independent. Keeler's article states Mumbauer remains on leave, but Officer Steven Graff and Sgt. James Rothrock have retuned to duty. Perkasie Borough Police Chief Joseph Gura told Keeler that he could not comment on the findings of Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler because of pending litigation. Sharon Luma, Towamencin Twp. Secretary, Succumbs to Injuries

Luma and her husband were ejected from their motorcycle after being hit by a car on Saturday

Sharon Luma, 46, Towamencin Township's executive secretary, has died from injuries suffered during a two-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Longswamp Township. According to The Kutztown Area Patriot, Luma was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m. May 14 by Dr. Rona Altares at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Her husband, Timothy, remains in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Hospital. According to the article, the Lumas were wearing helmets and eye protection when they were ejected from their motorcycle after it was hit by 20-year-old Macungie woman Alexa Nisiotis. See more:

Mildred Rae Senator died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, in Belle Haven Nursing Home, Quakertown, after a long illness. She was 80. Born February 17, 1931, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Morris and Betty Segal Senator. She graduated from Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1949, earned a bachelor of science in education in 1953 and a master of science in education in 1954 from the University of Pennsylvania. She also attended the University of Valencia in Spain, the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, and the Sorbonne in Paris and studied and taught at the University of Puerto Rico. After brief employment as a translator for Burpee Seeds, she was offered a job as a long-term substitute teacher at the former North Wales High …

East Pleads Not Guilty

The Towamencin man is accused of killing his 3-month-old son in June.

Towamencin resident Jameel East has pleaded not guilty in the June death of his 3-month-old son, Enzo East, according to the Lansdale Reporter. East was charged with killing his son in June after a caseworker with Montgomery County Children and Youth informed police that the infant had been transported to Lansdale Hospital after sustaining severe head trauma. The infant was later medevaced to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. An autopsy revealed that Enzo had died from multiple skull fractures and blunt force trauma to the head.
