Horses and Bayonets Debate: Was It Scripted?

The phrase that is being talked about after the final presidential debate: horses and bayonets.

"We have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets,” said President Barack Obama in response to Gov. Mitt Romney's assertion that “our Navy is smaller now than at any time since 1917.” That "horses and bayonet" comment hit Twitter and took off. It didn’t hit the top trending items for a little while, possibly because of different spellings of the word "bayonet." So, where did that remark come from? If you check cavalrymenforromney.com, you will find a drawing of a tired looking cavalryman with a Romney campaign flag. The site links to an Obama campaign site. A check of the domain registry shows that the domain was created at 7:51 p.m. EST, which is before the debate started at 9 p.m. What do you…

UPDATED: Montco Commissioners Shapiro and Richards Take to Courthouse Steps to Stump for Obama

In anticipation of tonight's final debate, Montgomery County Commissioners Josh Shapiro and Leslie Richards spoke in support of their party's candidate, President Barack Obama, today in Norristown.

Presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will square off tonight in the third and final presidential debate, this time on foreign policy. The commissioners told those in attendance that when it comes to foreign policy, the president has the experience and the record needed to lead our country for the next four years. "We are electing a commander-in-chief, someone who will keep America safe," Shapiro said. "All Mitt …

Poll: Pa. Back In Play as Romney Closes Gap

Once regarded as solidly in President Obama's column, Pennsylvania may be a swing state again.

As President Obama and Governor Mitt Romney prepared to square off in the second of three scheduled presidential debates on Tuesday night, new polling data indicated that the Republican challenger had substantially narrowed what once seemed like an insurmountable lead for the President in Pennsylvania. Bloomberg News reported that a Quinnipiac University poll of 1,519 likely Pa. voters favored Obama by just four percentage points over Romney. The poll was conducted between Oct. 12 and Oct. 14. Just one month ago, Obama held a 12 point lead in the state, and some news reports indicated that the Romney campaign had begun to focus its resources elsewhere. Obama carried the state by more than 10 percentage points in the 2008 election. Obama is…

Quinnipiac under-samples likely Republican voters by 6-11%. More accurate polling firms like Susquehanna recently had Pennsylvania at Obama 47, Romney 45, before the first debate. Pennsylvania is most definitely now a swing state, first time since 1988.   more ›

Here Come the Judge

Andrea Duffy unofficially wins District Judge 38-1-18 race, defeating three-term incumbent David Keightly.

Here come the judge—and her name is Andrea Duffy. In 14 years, Duffy went from senior Deputy District Attorney for Bucks County to District Judge for Montgomery Township and parts of Hatfield Township. Duffy unofficially clinched the Magisterial District Judge 38-1-18 race Tuesday in the primary, defeating three-term Judge David Keightly. “From the best I can tell, I’ve lost the election,” said Keightly Tuesday night from his home. He said he would not concede because “it’s not like a presidential race.” Unofficial resuts on the Montgomery County website showed Duffy with 773 votes on the Republican ballot, or 56 percent of the vote, to Keightly's 605 votes, or 44 percent of the vote. Those numbers were all precincts reporting. Unofficial …
