February 14 need not always be about dinner, flowers and chocolate
Do you watch “The Middle” on ABC? I love it. I loved it more this week, when Mom Frankie and Dad Mike sit down to explain to their youngest son Brick what love is, by highlighting their Valentine’s Day plans for him (while taking down the Christmas tree, mind you). The couple goes back and forth on options of going out to eat (too crowded), the movies (they could sleep at home for free), so decide on a bucket of chicken on the couch in their sweats. To take it further, Mike likes sports, so they decide on a bucket of chicken, in separate rooms, on separate televisions, in sweats. It is a perfect Valentine’s Day plan, if you ask me. I’m just that kind of girl. I’m not a big fan of flowers or chocolates. I generally wonder even as I’m …

Each Saturday, writer Elizabeth Tornetta features a day of observance and offers some fun things to do in celebration of it
On March 26, it is officially “Make Up Your Own Holiday” day. And it didn’t take me long to think of a good one. I’m declaring today as international PARENT DATE NIGHT! Find yourself a babysitter and get out of the house! When was the last time you did dinner and a movie? I could have the perfect date night for you. If you have not tried Fuzion in Worcester, now is the time. It’s a fusion of Asian food styles that brings mouthwatering excitement to every meal I have ever had there. And, it’s a B.Y.O.B. How can you get any better than that? Well, you could go see a movie next. Check out what’s playing in Lansdale tonight. If you decide to join the celebration of this newly declared holiday, tell us what you decided to do. If you …

For eight years, the nonprofit has gathered more than 500 volunteer members, and brought awareness and aid to Native American, Sudanese and Burmese cultures, to name a few.
Ask Rosemary Gallagher what The Peace Project of Montgomery County/Kids For Peace is all about, and she stumbles on her words as she searches for a description. "It's about so many things. It's hard to say," said Gallagher, the founder and director of the nonprofit. The best way to describe the nonprofit: It is a multicultural, interfaith, inter-tribal organization that aims to bring harmony and peace to the world by rooting its efforts in the community. Stop in any fourth Wednesday of the month in the community room, and one is certain to be welcomed with a smile, a friendly gesture, and an invitation to sit and enjoy the session. Monthly meetings discuss various topics concerning health or lifestyle. For instance, Wednesday night's …

A best friend is keeping a secret about a cheating boyfriend, and one hopeless romantic asks for some Valentine's Day plans
Got a question for "Dear Lizzie..."? Write email@example.com. Dear Lizzie ... My best friend Stephanie and I have known each other more than 15 years. For the past two years, she has been dating this guy, and it’s getting pretty serious. She is the happiest she’s ever been, and she tells me all the time how he’s changed her life for the better. It’s true because I see it. Recently, I came to discover that her boyfriend is cheating on the side with another woman. An older woman to be exact. While I haven’t told her yet, I feel awful that this is going on behind her back and I’m basically the only one that knows. I feel it’s my duty as her best friend to tell her. I don’t know what’s stopping me. What do you think? – BEST FRIEND WITH…
