Council President Matt West announced last week that an informal town hall setting Tuesday night will be the time to discuss the Madison Parking Lot redevelopment and its influence on Lansdale.
Lansdale Borough Council will host an informal town hall setting Tuesday night at borough hall to discuss the influences of the Madison Parking Lot redevelopment on the community. The town hall session runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lansdale Borough Hall. "We're going to be hosting a more informal town hall discussion on the Madison Lot project and what that means to the borough, outside of just the Madison Lot project in and of itself: how the borough will be interconnected with the Madison Lot, how it's going ot connect with the trail system, with the proposed municipal complex, so on and so forth," said council President Matt West at last week's council meeting. West will lead a formal presentation, he said, on what the project means …

Prompted by Lansdale Councilman Paul Clemente, the administration and finance committee is reviewing a draft survey to be issued to taxpayers to gather data on municipal waste services
There was a lot of trash talking going on Wednesday at the Lansdale administration and finance committee. The concept of a single trash hauler for the borough is back on the agenda after 10 months, and it includes revisiting a $17,000 study that never made it out of the public works committee in 2006. Councilmembers have about a week to review a 2006 Gannett-Fleming Municipal Waste and Recycleables Collection study — as well as a draft preliminary survey from borough engineer Remington, Vernick and Beach — in hopes that a finalized proposed residential survey on trash hauler will be recommended to council for approval in November. Read the full study at this link. The revisit of the single hauler was prompted in December 2011 by Councilman…

Councilwoman and parks and recreation chair Mary Fuller said the committee is in the early stages of discussing how to bring a skate park to Lansdale.
Tighten up the decks and get a grip on this news: Lansdale Borough wants a skate park. And perhaps the third time will be the charm. Parks and Recreation Committee Chairwoman Mary Fuller said at an April 6 meeting that the committee is proceeding with discussions on how to bring a skate park to the borough. She and borough parks and recreation director Carl Saldutti confirmed that the area of interest for consideration is Schweiker Park. The park, Fuller said, would be a joint project with Hatfield Township. Hatfield co-owns Schweiker Park with the borough and, in essence, would jointly own a skate park. There are two privately-owned lots that adjoin the park, and the borough could be looking into purchasing them from the resident. “The …

Borough manager Timi Kirchner is working with staff and the community to determine branding of the borough.
What is Lansdale? Lansdale Borough Manager Timi Kirchner, borough staff and its departments are looking for the answer to that question in an effort to brand the borough. At a recent borough council meeting, Kirchner informed council that, in addition to being a concept introduced to the new communications commission, the thought of branding Lansdale Borough is something of a hot item in the borough. “We started talking about this business with branding this community: Who are we? What’s our theme? What story do we have to tell as a community?” she said. The idea is to take these questions to the community at-large, but Kirchner has now begun working on the municipal level by finding out staff’s thoughts and feelings on the subject. …
