Four major votes set on the agenda tonight in Lansdale Borough will be delayed due to ironing out details on respective contracts. Borough Solicitor Mark Hosterman Wednesday afternoon advised council remove four items from its agenda for its Wednesday evening work session: A major agenda item, which has caused a stir of controversy and a push for petitions from residents, was on whether or not for Spiezle Architects to be contracted to proceed on drafting alternative options for the municipal complex. It did not mean a vote on the demolition of borough hall. Manna on Main Street added $3,000 more to its coffers Friday afternoon, thanks to a grant from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation. The check was presented to Manna's Development Officer Kristyn Didominick at Bottom Dollar Food in Montgomeryville. "We applied for a grant through the Food Lion Charitable Foundation to purchase food for our pantry," Didominick said. "A lot of families we serve need fresh vegetables and fruits throughout the year." Food Lion and Bottom Dollar Food are owned by Delhaize America. From chicken hatchery to hatching new lives for low-income families. Advanced Living Communities, owners of Schwenckfeld Manor and Derstine Run, cut the ribbon Friday afternoon at 220 S. Line St. in Lansdale for the grand opening of its newest affordable housing project in Montgomery County. The five-unit apartment complex is the former site of Amchick, a chick hatchery that opened around 1949 and has since moved to North Carolina. It stands next to the now Morgan Properties-owned Silk Factory Lofts. Kim Krauter, vice president of operations for Advanced Living Communities, said it was a real pleasure for Advanced Living to try something different. Montgomery County Commissioners approved last week a Community Development Block Grant to help fund the rehabilitation and renovation of a community park in Souderton Borough
The Chestnut Street Playground is set to get a $195,000 Community Development Block Grant from Montgomery County Department of Housing and Community Development. The full requested amount was approved by commissioners last week. The construction of the playground has a focus on special needs and accessibility. Lansdale Police said a man from West Second Street was the victim of a phone scam, which promised an $8,000 grant for college by wiring $142
Lansdale Police said a man from the 800 block of West Second Street was a recent victim of a phone scam. Police said the victim was contacted by a person claiming to represent "National Government Grant" and affiliated with "Federal Bank." The victim was told that he was eligible to receive an $8,000 grant for college if he wired them $142, police said. The man wired the money and never received any further correspondence, police said. The victim reported the scam to police on July 26 at 6 p.m. Lansdale Police encourage residents to be cautious and suspicious of phone calls where an individual requests wiring of money in exchange for something else.

By May 7, residents of West Fourth Street between Broad Street and Walnut Street in Lansdale will be inconvenienced for four months because of the replacement of sanitary lines, storm sewer lines, water lines and new curbs and sidewalk.
