Gordon Richard Arthur's neighbor across the street from his 300 block of York Avenue home was sitting on her couch, watching TV, at 10:40 p.m. May 3, when a 9mm bullet shattered the glass in her front screen door, police said. She was sitting in the trajectory of the bullet, a mere six feet away, police said. Now, Arthur, 57, who is licensed to carry a firearm, faces misdemeanor reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief charges for allegedly firing his Glock 9mm accidentally during a house party from his dining room, police said. Students told faculty they had seen an armed man in a ski mask.
A man who was out jogging is believed to have been the cause of a lockdown at West Broad Street Elementary School in Franconia on Thursday afternoon, police said. The school was placed on lockdown at about 1:40 p.m. after three fourth-grade students on the school's playground reported seeing a man in a black sweater and black-hooded mask with a gun along a nearby tree line. Franconia Township Police Chief Joseph Kozeniewski said authorities were "confident" that the children had mistaken the unidentified jogger for the armed person. "We are not sure where [the children] came up with the idea of a man carrying a gun," Kozeniewski said. Denielle M. Wolf, 23, of the 400 block of Allentown Road, Franconia Township, was sentenced to five years’ probation for lying on paperwork she completed to purchase a handgun in March 2011 at American Arms and Ammo in Hatfield, according to Margaret Gibbons of The Intelligencer. Wolf must also perform 20 hours of community service. Wolf bought the handgun for Jaleel Cole, who was 20 at the time, according to the article. Cole was sentenced to one to five years in prison, according to the article. Cole, of the 200 block of Parkview Drive, Lower Salford, was found guilty of possessing a gun with a license and conspiracy to possess a gun without a license, according to the article. Update 12:01 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 15 Officials report that no one was harmed in an alleged shooting in Towamencin Township this night. A concerned neighbor called in a domestic dispute case in the area of Boyd Avenue and Swartley Road, Towamencin. Upon arrival, police report that they did not find a gun, nor could they corroborate the neighbor's story about a gun having gone off at all. Police said there was no said shooting after they'd investigated the scene. The report says that a male and female were fighting in that location. The neighbor called in during an altercation. A Telford teenager remains incarcerated at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on felony robbery, assault and witness intimidation charges stemming from his alleged involvement in the severe beating of a Telford man late Monday night. Matthew Wiggins, 18, of the 300 block of Franconia Avenue, Telford, was arraigned July 18 on seven charges before District Judge James Gallagher. A preliminary hearing is set for July 26 at 3:45 p.m. before District Judge Kenneth Deatelhauser of Souderton. Mark Fiorino is not an NRA card-carrying member. He’s not a radical right-winger (nor is he a liberal left-winger). He’s not some crazy with a vendetta either. Fiorino is an American citizen, exercising his right to bear arms. The RadioShack store in the Montgomery Commons Shopping Center on Route 63 in Montgomery Township was robbed Wednesday night. Montgomery Township Police responded to a report of a robbery at Radio Shack at around 8:19 p.m., police said. The suspect entered the store and approached an employee. The suspect displayed a handgun and directed the employee to the storage room, police said. Once there, the suspect filled a Radio Shack bag with cell phones, police said. The suspect then left the storage room and headed for the register. Once there, he made the employee empty the money into the bag, police said. Teenager claims he's a Crip, and allegedly threatened to shoot elderly man at Pedaller Bike Shop
Police said an 18-year-old man from Conshohocken allegedly punched an employee at Pedaller Bike Shop and claimed he was a Crip gang member and threatened to get a gun and shoot the victim. Josef A. Riley, 18, of the 400 block of West Fourth Street, Conshohocken, was arrested Dec. 28 and charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct, police said. Riley was arraigned before District Judge Kenneth Deatelhauser, who set bail at $50,000. Riley failed to post bail and was remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
