A lone suspect robbed the BP at Sumneytown Pike and Broad Street at gunpoint Thursday night and fled with cash toward Sumneytown Pike
Upper Gwynedd Police are seeking a man who used a handgun to rob the BP gas station at 868 Sumneytown Pike in Upper Gwynedd Thursday at 9:52 p.m. Police said the suspect entered the store and asked for a pack of Newports. The clerk opened the register and the man produced a black semi-automatic handgun, police said. He then jumped on the counter and pointed the gun at the clerk, police said. He then reached into the register and took an undetermined amount of cash. He then left the store and walked toward Sumneytown Pike, police said. A Montgomery Township K9 tracked the suspect to a nearby parking lot, police said. It is believed the man left from that lot in a vehicle. Denielle M. Wolf, 23, of the 400 block of Allentown Road, Franconia Township, was sentenced to five years’ probation for lying on paperwork she completed to purchase a handgun in March 2011 at American Arms and Ammo in Hatfield, according to Margaret Gibbons of The Intelligencer. Wolf must also perform 20 hours of community service. Wolf bought the handgun for Jaleel Cole, who was 20 at the time, according to the article. Cole was sentenced to one to five years in prison, according to the article. Cole, of the 200 block of Parkview Drive, Lower Salford, was found guilty of possessing a gun with a license and conspiracy to possess a gun without a license, according to the article. A Towamencin woman — who is headed to county trial on prostitution and numerous heroin possession charges in Lansdale — is also headed to county trial on felony theft and felony receiving stolen property charges, as well as cocaine possession charges. Kristen Stephen, 29, of the 200 block of Hickory Court, allegedly broke into her boyfriend's home and stole his gun in order to pay off drug debts. Stephen allegedly stole a gun at a previous date for the same reason, police said. While investigating the theft at the home on Oct. 6, Stephen allegedly gave permission to Towamenicn Police to search her purse, where needles and other paraphernalia used for heroin were found in her possession, according to the affidavit.
