Disney is getting things moving on three new "Star Wars" movies, following its $4 billion purchase of LucasFilm

Development news of three new "Star Wars" films — all telling the continuing tale of what happened after "Jedi" — is moving faster than the Millennium Falcon at the Kessel Run. It was announced last week that Walt Disney Co. purchased LucasFilm for $4 billion, and hence, rules the "Star Wars," well, empire. Now, news comes out of Hollywood Tuesday morning that "X-Men: First Class" and "Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaughn could helm the first new episode. He would then join the likes of science fiction mogul George Lucas, the late Irvin Kerschner, and Richard Marquand. The deal could be the end of "Clone Wars" on the Cartoon Network, which is owned by Time Warner (which also owns DC Comics and, hence, the "Batman" franchise). Just please — no…

Ambler Theater Unveils Hollywood Summer Nights

The film schedule for summer 2012 includes a healthy dose of Bond and Hitchcock, plus the ever-popular Python Fest.

Lansdale residents can find old Hollywood in Ambler and Doylestown during the summer. The Ambler Theater has the recipe for hot summer nights - just add Hollywood. Ambler's independent theater on Thursday unveiled its 2012 Hollywood Summer Nights schedule. The program includes two types of films, Hollywood Classics and After Dark, the theater's special events manager, Chris Collier, said on the theater's blog. "The Hollywood Classics are your Golden Age of Hollywood fare and are family friendly," Collier wrote, adding, "In fact, we encourage you to bring your family – all of our Hollywood Classics are free for ages 18 and under.
