Illegal Immigrant Pleads Guilty to Telford Hit-and-Run

An illegal immigrant formerly from Hatfield admitted in Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas to a hit-and-run incident that happened in Telford on June 5. According to Peg Gibbons of PhillyBurbs.com, Walter Antonio Milla Quintero, 24, formerly of Roosevelt Avenue, received Sept. 7 a time-served to 12-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to the hit-and-run. Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency filed a detainer to take custody of Quintero, according to the article. He will be taken into custody following his prison sentence. Police said the hit-and-run occurred at 9 p.m. June 5 on the 400 block of West Broad Street, Telford. According to the article, Quintero attempted to pass a car on the left side that …

FDMT Seeks $350K Grant to Hire Two Firefighters

Montgomery Township Supervisors also approved FDMT officers for 2012, and approved $11K purchase of SCBA units, gas meters

Fire Department of Montgomery Township firefighters and fire police were ironically called into action Monday night, right when supervisors were set to approve the FDMT operational officers and Relief Association officers. It was a night that showed the department is in need of more firefighters to continue its services to the township. The township – and FDMT – are hoping to obtain a $352,000 SAFER grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, in order to hire two full-time firefighters and purchase protective equipment for up to 10 new volunteers at a cost of $30,000. About 15 percent of the $63 million of the total funding of the overall SAFER grant would be allocated for hiring of new firefighters. On top of that, supervisors …
