Apple Mothballs Original iPhone

All hardware services for the original iPhone will be discontinued June 11.

The original 2007-era iPhone will be categorized as obsolete beginning June 11, according to an internal memo from Apple, published online Tuesday. "Obsolete" status means people will no longer be able to have their devices serviced through an Apple store. But don't fret. AppleCare and third-party authorized service centers have a different word for the older models: "vintage." They'll still help out users with those devices, according to Business Insider. Other Apple products set to be minted as vintage in June: mid-2007 models of the iMac, the late 2006 model Xserve, and the original Mac Pro, Mac Rumors reported. Apple reportedly sold 6.1 million first generation iPhone units in the year or so before the iPhone 3G was launched in 2008, …

Apple Unveils New iPhone 5

Apple unveiled the next generation of iPhone today. Will you be upgrading?

The details on the new iPhone 5 from Apple were announced today, and the sixth model in the series, is taller, thinner and lighter than the iPhone 4S, according to Apple Senior Vice President Phil Shiller in an article by CBS News. Verizon is putting their unlimited data plans to death. I don't trust Apple and their enthusiasm over the iCloud (a data traffic cash cow for Verizon) and i'm disappointed in Apple's lack of commitment to American jobs. I don't plan on upgrading my 4. Too many reasons not to upgrade.   more ›

3DSo What? Presenting the PlayStation Vita

In fourth-quarter 2011, Sony will launch their next-gen handheld, placing it in direct competition with the Nintendo 3DS.

Less than three short months ago, Nintendo announced the beginning of a new generation of handheld consoles with the release of the 3DS. While Sony's inevitable entry to the fold with their follow-up to the PSP was no mystery, details were cloudy and vague at best. But following E3 2011, we now know what Sony has up their sleeve, as well as projected pricing and release timing. Ladies and gentlemen, the Sony PlayStation Vita. The pictures sure are pretty. It looks not unlike the current-gen PSP at a glance, but there's a very important difference noticeable right from the get-go, and it's a feature that fans have asked for time and time again: the Playstation Vita sports dual analog sticks. Finally, a true FPS experience can be readily …
