Montgomery Township Supervisors recognized K-9 Officer Aston for his nine years of service with township police
For the past nine years, Montgomery Township Police Sgt. Glenn Davis has been the handler for K-9 Officer Aston. More importantly, they have been partners. Aston, a nearly 8-year-old German shepherd, retired from service on Oct. 17. On Monday night, flanked by Davis, Davis' wife Tiffany and their sons Cooper and Jacob, Aston was honored and recognized for his service by township supervisors with a plaque — and some dog biscuits. "Tonight, we recognize another retiring employee of the township. This one's of the four-legged variety," said police Chief Scott Bendig at the meeting. "Aston retired after nearly nine years of service to the Montgomery Township Police Department. Aston was purchased by the police department in 2004 and served as …

Law enforcement honors fallen officer as community quickly supports.
"Brad Fox is a hero." That simple statement bookended Plymouth Township Police Chief Joseph Lawrence's address to the media Thursday night, as he stood in the suddenly cool night air just a few hundred yards from where Officer Bradley Fox was killed in the line of duty. "Brad was with [the department] for seven years, and just recently graduated the Philadelphia K-9 school with his partner, Nick," said Lawrence, adding that Fox is survived by an expectant wife and young daughter. "This was a senseless, senseless act." Details are still scarce about how Officer Fox lost his life. Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman said that Fox and his canine partner, Nick, responded to a hit and run accident near the intersection of …

Report: Homeowner shot at two suspects
A house in the Belfry section of Whitpain Township was the scene of a home invasion in the early overnight hours of Saturday morning. Police were looking for two black males wearing dark clothing who broke into a home at about 1 a.m. on the 700 block of Danbury Drive. Breaking News Network, a service that monitors police radio reports, reported that the homeowner had fired a gun at the intruders and may have struck at least one of them. Police declined to confirm that the homeowner had shot at the intruders. "They were scared off by the homeowner," said Sergeant Joseph Fenerty of the Whitpain Township Police department, who said that the suspects had fled the scene. "We're checking hospitals now," Fenerty said. "They're considered …
