About 300 guests participated in the kickoff for the 22nd annual multicultural event, coming April 20 to North Penn High School
While the 22nd annual International Spring Festival brings its multicultural flair to North Penn High School on April 20, the kickoff event Thursday at Christopher Dock Mennonite High School previewed what to expect at the ethnic and cultural celebration in diversity. Planning Committee Co-Chair Tom Meyer told The Reporter that the kickoff event lets sponsors know that the festival is happening again, and lets new sponsors and new volunteers sign on for a chance to be part of the festival. Talking heads on Sunday NFL pregame shows could soon be talking about how many minutes are left until the opening punt return. As Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano last spring suggested a scenario in which a team that had just scored would not kick, but instead take possession of the ball at their own 30-yard line in a 4th-and-15 situation. Thousands of former players banded together last summer to sue the league, claiming it hid information that linked football-related head trauma to permanent brain injuries. The league has already tried to make kickoffs less dangerous by moving them to the 35-yard line. Watch the video to learn more.

1. The North Penn Police Athletic League holds an inaugural kickoff event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lower level of JC Penney’s at Montgomery Mall. This is the time for parents to sign up children ages 11 to 18 in the North Penn School District area as a PAL member FOR FREE. There will be giveaways, police demos, police vehicles, SWAT team displays and more. Sponsors are Lansdale Hospital and Montgomery Township Police Benevolent Association. 2. Lansdale Cannoneers holds a “Cheer Burger Day” Fundraiser today, beginning at noon to 6 p.m. at 501 N. Cannon Avenue, Lansdale.
