Corbett to Propose Privatizing Pa. Liquor Stores

Gov. Tom Corbett will announce plans to privatize Pennsylvania's state store system

The big issue of whether to privatize Pennsylvania's liquor stores will take center stage today as Gov. Tom Corbett announces plans to sell them off. Corbett will call for liquor store licenses to be auctioned off, according to multiple sources. Sales of beer and wine could be opened up to various retailers including drug stores and big-box department stores. Bad Tequila? Liquor Control Board Issues Voluntary Recall

1800 Tequila recalled due to glass fragments

In an alert to consumers, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Friday announced a voluntary product recall for three types of tequila, according to a news release. Due to "potential glass particles in the bottle," the LCB recalled 1800 Tequila 1.75 Liter Silver, Reposado and Coconut. "It is believed the percentage of affected bottles is low and there have been no reports of consumer injuries," the LCB said. Parent company Agavera Camichines said 1800 Tequila could have been potentially damaged "during transportation and handling to glass stoppers in the bottle may have caused the presence of small particles of glass that could pose a health risk." Lansdale Brewery Receives LCB Approval to Operate as Pub

Round Guys Brewery, located on Wood Street near Courtland Street in Lansdale, is awaiting its license from the county board of health in order to sell food

Round Guys Brewery is one step away from being a full-fledged pub and the new watering hole in Lansdale. And that's no monkey business. Co-owner Scott Rudich announced on the Round Guys Facebook page that the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board gave them approval to operate as a pub. But don't grab a cushy seat and pint glass just yet - they are still awaiting a license to sell food from the Montgomery County Board of Health. "Once we have a pub permit, we can sell pints all the time. Closed Bar/Restaurant Cited by LCB

The owner of Dirty Jerzees and Clubhouse Too in Upper Gwynedd was cited for five violations of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code and Liquor Control Board regulations that occurred between May 2011 and January 2012

Leunes Family Restaurant LLC, the owner of Dirty Jerzee's Sports Bar and Grill and Clubhouse Too on Sumneytown Pike in Upper Gwynedd, was cited by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for five violations on three occasions between May 2011 and January 2012. It is reported by readers of Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch that the restaurant and bar has been closed since May. According to a press release from the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement's Allentown office, the business violated the Pennsylvania Liquor Law, the Clean Indoor Air Act and Liquor Control Board regulations. Molly's Busted for Underage Sale

The Lansdale restaurant and bar was cited by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for selling or giving alcohol to a minor

Molly Maguire's in Lansdale was cited by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for selling alcohol to a minor in Feburary, according to an article in The Reporter. Pennsylvania State Police's Bureau of Alcohol Enforcement said Molly Maguire's sold or permitted the sale of alcohol to a 19-year-old on Feb. 9, according to the article. The state liquor law requires the offense be brought before an Administrative Law Judge, who can impose penalties up to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. The judge can revoke or suspend a liquor license or mandate training on liquor law requirements, according to the law.
