My name is Jeffrey R. Howard and I am a 20-year Lansdale resident. Some of you may know me as a friend or neighbor, and I hope to acquaint myself with many more of you in my attempt to become a Democratic member of the Lansdale Borough Council. I know that many of you are tired of the same old political excuses, the excessive spending, and the elitist attitude of many of our borough leaders—so am I! I am not a career politician. In fact, I have never even been strongly enamored of any political party. I am just a hard-working middle-class man who wants to do what is best for the community and its citizens. What can I offer? My time, mostly, as I am now a self-employed investment property owner and manager with three properties in the …

Hello, my name is Joe Wolf and I am running for Lansdale Borough Council, First Ward, in the Democratic Primary. I have been a resident of Lansdale Borough for over eight years. I have been employed in several professions over my lifetime. I have been a chef at various private country clubs in Montgomery County, to owning my own automotive shop. I have worked at jobs were I interacted with the public all my life. So, dealing with the public/residents is not a problem. Concerns of mine are transparency of borough government, televising of public meetings and a commitment to lower taxes. Let's not make getting information to the people so difficult, almost a hassle. We can simplify this process. Televising borough council meetings should be …

My name is Robert Willi and I am running for Borough Council in Ward 3. I decided last year that I wanted to run because I felt that Lansdale was finally moving in the right direction, and I want to help keep that momentum going. We do not need to repeat the mistakes of the past—lots of promises with no results, or failed projects that cost Lansdale residents money. State Representative Godshall was quoted as saying, "Lansdale is doing more than any Montgomery County municipality as far as revitalizing the town." Main Street has more businesses now than it did four years ago. Going down Main Street, it is hard to find an empty building, yet my opponents (Leon Angelicio and Liz Troy) would have you believe that there are tumbleweeds …

I am writing this letter in support of Mary Fuller for Borough Council. I have never written to the paper on a political matter before but I felt the need after receiving several attack ad mailers from the “Friends of Lansdale” PAC, representing Jeff Howard and Joe Wolf. Friends of Lansdale? When you have friends like these who needs enemies? When Mary took office, she was part of a group that voted for refinancing debt, which, in turn, resulting in receiving much better interest rates: along with revision of insurance coverage, all resulted in a total savings between $550,000 and $600,000. Yes, Mary did vote to increase the local taxes. But it was either close the parks and the pools and keep the library open at its reduced hours, or …

Hello friends and neighbors in Lansdale's Ward 2 (polling stations at Knapp Elementary, Elm Terrace and United Methodist Church). I just wanted to write one last note before the May 21st primary. Very briefly I wish to cover what I've done for Lansdale Borough over the last three and a half years. It's now up to you, the voters to decide if you want me to serve another term as your Councilman. I stand for Lansdale first and not the dictates of any political party. There have been many things I have accomplished, with the cooperation and help of Borough staff and fellow Council Members. The first of which is one of my proudest. In 2009, Chief Bob McDyre came to me and explained the current personnel situation in the Lansdale Police …

Kathleen Becker had submitted a petition to run in Ward Two in the Lansdale Borough Council race. A listing of endorsed candidates on the Lansdale Democratic Party website shows Becker has withdrawn from the race.
Lansdale Democrat Kathleen Becker has withdrawn her candidacy for Lansdale Borough Council in the 2013 Election. The Lansdale Democratic Party website shows "candidacy withdrawn" under its endorsed candidates for Ward Two in Lansdale Borough. Ward Two is at presently served by Lansdale Democratic Party Chairman Jack Hansen, Democrat Rich DiGregorio Jr. and Republican Mike Sobel. Sobel is running for re-election on Lansdale Borough Council. He was not endorsed by the Lansdale Republican Club. Sobel is being challenged by Republican Tom Work, who sits on the Lansdale Parking Authority. Without a candidate in Ward Two, Lansdale Democratic Party would have no candidate on the ballot, as there is one open seat in Ward Two. Thus, whoever …

As a candidate for Lansdale Borough Council, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am a Board-certified medical editor currently employed in the pharmaceutical industry as a document quality analyst. I grew up in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and moved to the Philadelphia suburbs in the mid-1980s. My son Nick is an engineer employed on the naval base in Charleston, South Carolina. I have lived in the Lansdale area for 12 years: 11 years in an apartment and the last year in my house on Cannon Avenue. In 2001, I was simply looking for an apartment that was within walking distance of a train to center city, but I ended up finding the town that was to become my new home. It was much more than 3 years ago that I fell in love with Lansdale…

Lansdale and its residents come first. Period. End of story. But the local Democratic Party is reading from a different book. Lansdale Democratic Committee chairman and current borough councilman Jack Hansen claims I am doing nothing but attack. “Constant attacks”, “petty attacks”, “attack on Bev Dodds” – he makes it sound like it’s Shark Week on the Discovery Channel! He also said, “It is that time of the year again! Political season is upon us and some people will say anything to get your attention.” Jack – you got that one right, because you’re the one who is “saying anything.” First, a bit about Bev Dodds. Jack has you thinking that I’ve wronged her in some way. Give him enough time and he’ll most probably have me pushing …

Republican Mike Sobel is running for re-election to Lansdale Borough Council. He and incumbent Republican Dan Dunigan were not endorsed by the Lansdale Republican Club. Sobel questions the choices of endorsed Ward Two candidate Tom Work.
Mike Sobel is an incumbent Republican councilman in Lansdale Borough. He is running for re-election and is facing a battle in the Primary. He and incumbent Republican Councilman Dan Dunigan were not endorsed by the Lansdale Republican Club. Lansdale Republican Club Chairman Frank Bartle has not returned emails seeking comment. - Ed. Fellow residents of Lansdale, my name is Mike Sobel. I am a current, sitting borough councilman representing Lansdale’s Ward Two. Our town is at a crossroads, coming upon us very quickly on May 21 of this year. Yes, it’s Primary Day. I will be running for re-election this term as a Republican candidate. However, I am not the candidate endorsed by the local Republican Club. I was unceremoniously “disinvited” to…

Republican Councilman Dan Dunigan is up for reelection in the 2013 election to Lansdale Borough Council.

He and incumbent Republican Councilman Mike Sobel were not endorsed by the Lansdale Republican Club. Lansdale Republican Club Chairman Frank Bartle has not returned emails seeking comment. - Ed. Welcome to Lansdale — Party Politics and Puppeteers. Several weeks ago, I was invited to the Lansdale Republican Club’s endorsement meeting on March 25, after having been disinvited a month earlier by Club Chairman Frank Bartle, the managing partner at Dischell, Bartle & Dooley and a former Lansdale Borough solicitor for many years. I knew I faced an uphill battle for this endorsement, despite having been …

You forgot to mention his 3 losses as well. One of which came not too long after he landed on Borough Council and then decided, before the ink was even dry on the local election results, the heck with Lansdale, I want Harrisburg! Shows you EXACTLY the kind of person Jack Hansen is. A political opportunist, and nothing more. He's such an opportunist that he even created a way to funnel money to …   more ›
