Plans for New Lighting at 4th St. Basketball Court

The Lansdale Parks and Recreation Department is working on estimates for lighting and wiring the existing basketball court at Fourth Street Park, per request of a teenage resident

Lansdale Borough Parks and Recreation is working with the borough electric company on getting cost estimates for lighting and wiring the existing basketball court at Fourth Street Park. A request from a 17-year-old resident of West Fourth Street prompted the discussion and investigation. The resident initially requested an additional basketball court and new basketball nets as well. Parks and recreation director Carl Saldutti said the resident had mentioned organizing a fundraiser to help cover the costs of the lighting and wiring. The teenager had mentioned he and friends must play at Parkside Place in Upper Gwynedd or in Hilltown if they want a lighted court. "We are getting estimates to get a handle on what costs would be," Saldutti …

Accidents Galore on Saturday

Numerous accidents plagued the North Penn and Indian Valley areas Saturday

It was a day of vehicular accidents and delayed traffic on Saturday in the North Penn and Indian Valley areas. It all began at 4 a.m. when a transformer fire in Montgomery Township cut out all the lights at the Five Points intersection. At around 11 a.m., Knapp Road was closed at North Wales Road due to a motor vehicle accident with a rescue on the Lansdale side. Commuters in the area of Welsh Road/W. Main Street/63 and West Orvilla Road were delayed by a three-vehicle accident that blocked the intersection – this is where Spaniel’s Exxon and the cemetery are located. Within minutes of one another, two accidents occurred in extremes of the county. At 521 Ridge Road in Telford Borough, near Salford Township, crews from Tylersport Fire Co. …

Gallery: Christmas in Lansdale

Nothing says "warmth" like Christmas lights

With Christmas only a few days away, the streets and roads throughout the borough are aglow with lights and decorations. Some prefer the minimalistic approach to Christmas displays, while others aim to make Clark Griswold blush. Regardless, there's nothing like walking down a well-decorated street before Christmas, so we've put together a gallery of various Christmas displays throughout Lansdale. Was your home captured in our lens?  Check the gallery to find out!

Thanks to the efforts of the Lansdale Business Association, the "Holiday Festival of Trees" will shine brightly from Main Street and Mitchell Avenue for the duration of the holiday season. "It's free to the public and we think it will help get people into the spirit of the holidays," said Mary Schwalje, of Lansdale's Sign-A-Rama, who helped organize the event.  "It lets people know a little more about the local businesses in Lansdale, and it gives the families a fun experience." The Christmas tree display features uniquely decorated trees by 14 area businesses, including …

With festive lights already donning the surrounding trees and bushes, local vendors supplied hot dogs and warm drinks to those who were eagerly awaiting the arrival of a certain family from the North Pole.
