A Lower Providence man, accused of stealing the drunk bus from Hattrick's Bar in Hatfield Borough, was released on his own recognizance following a preliminary hearing in Souderton District Court Thursday, but still faces two felony charges at county arraignment on April 10. Andre Leon Wilson, 38, of the 4000 block of Cardin Place, faces charges of felony theft, felony receiving stolen property, misdemeanor unauthorized use of a vehicle, and misdemeanor DUI, and driving with a suspended or revoked license, after police said he allegedly stole a van used by the bar for designated driving services. A Lower Providence man is charged with allegedly stealing a van used by Hattricks Bar in Hatfield Borough for designated driving services. Andre Leon Wilson, 38, of the 4000 block of Cardin Place, has been charged with felony theft, felony receiving stolen property, misdemeanor unauthorized use of a vehicle, misdemeanor DUI and driving with a suspended or revoked license, according to court records. Wilson was arraigned Jan. 27 before District Judge Juanita Price of Glenside, who set bail at $50,000 cash, according to court records. Wilson remains incarcerated at Montgomery County prison. Gunshot wound apparently self-inflicted; had been staying at Philadelphia halfway house
A paroled burglar who fired shots at Lower Providence police officers from a motel room on Sunday evening was later found dead inside that room from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police surrounded the Blue Eagle Motel on Ridge Pike after Ricardo Norris, 48, fired shots and "narrowly missed striking the officers" who had knocked on the motel room door to serve him with a warrant, according to a statement released by the Lower Providence Township Police Department. The officers did not return fire and called for support. Ridge Pike was closed between Level Road and Eagleville Road as authorities established a perimeter around the motel and the Central Montgomery County SWAT team took up positions near the property. Montco DA announces the arrest of 10 members of the Norristown-based "Gangsta Killer Bloods."
On Wednesday morning, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman announced the arrest of 10 alleged members of the "Gangsta Killer Bloods," including the alleged leader of the gang, 23-year-old Augustus Anthony Simmons, of Brooklyn, NY. The arrests cap off six months of work by a Montgomery County investigative grand jury, who traced the alleged criminal enterprise back to Simmons' arrival in Norristown in July of 2010. "When Simmons came in last summer, his goal was to organize criminals on the streets behind him," said Ferman. "He came down with the purpose of establishing and solidifying a Blood set in Montgomery County."
