Turnpike Closed Six Hours Sunday for Bridge Beam Removal

A 13-mile stretch of I-476 will be closed in both directions between Lansdale and Quakertown, due to removal of bridge beams on the Fretz Road overpass in Lower Salford.

Due to the removal of steel beams from the bridge that carries Fretz Road over the Northeastern Extension in Lower Salford, 13 miles of I-476 will be closed in both directions Sunday, beginning at 12:01 a.m. According to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the 13-mile stretch is between Lansdale Exit 31 and Quakertown Exit 44. At 12:01 a.m., southbound Northeastern Extension traffic will be detoured at Quakertown and northbound at Lansdale. Motorists that are headed north from Mid-County or east/west will be directed to exit at Lansdale. Traffic will reopen by 6 a.m. Sunday on the Northeastern Extension, according to the PTC. Lower Salford Man ID'd as Driver Killed in Harleysville Crash

Christopher Detweiler, 42, of Morris Road, was flown to Hahnemann Hospital for treatment, but succumbed to injuries in the accident Friday afternoon

Update Monday, Dec. 3 Lower Salford Police have identified the driver killed in an accident in Harleysville Friday afternoon as Christopher Detweiler, 42, of the 100 block of Morris Road, Lower Salford. Earlier Story A Harleysville resident died as a result of a one-car crash on Quarry Road near  Stover Road Friday afternoon. According to Breaking News Network, one person was trapped in a vehicle. A driver was rescued from a vehicle, and flown by Mid-Atlantic MedEvac 3, according to BNN. According to The Reporter, the driver was flown to Hahnemann Hospital, but did not survive injuries sustained from the crash.
