Incumbent Democrat Fuller Wins Lansdale Ward One Primary

Friends of Lansdale-endorsed Jeff Howard received the second-most votes in the Democratic Primary. There are two open seats in the ward, heading to November.

The woman who brought fireworks to Lansdale heads to November on the Democratic ticket, along with Friends of Lansdale PAC-endorsed Jeff Howard, following the Tuesday Primary for Lansdale Borough Council. Fuller and Howard will face Republican challengers Michele Coyle and Jean Fritz, and Independent Jason Van Dame, for the two seats in Ward One in November. According to unofficial Montgomery County Election results, Fuller received 103 votes, or 37.8 percent, of all three precincts in Ward One in Lansdale. Howard received 101 votes, or 37 percent, and third Democratic challenger Joe Wolf received 68 votes.  "I can let my breath out now," Fuller said late Tuesday night. "I feel proud of the Lansdale voters in my ward. I'm glad they came …

Incumbent Fuller’s Fate to Be Determined in Ward One Primary

Two seats are open in Ward One for Lansdale Borough Council, including that of council Vice President Mary Fuller. Three Democrats are vying for the most votes to make it to the General Election to challenge two Republicans.

Two seats are up for grabs in Ward One on Lansdale Borough Council, and one of them belongs to Vice President Mary Fuller. The Democratic councilwoman—who chairs the Parks and Recreation Committee and the Economic Development Committee—is facing a challenge this year from newcomers Jeff Howard and Joe Wolf. After May 21, there can be only two. The two Democrats with the most votes on the Primary will move on to challenge Republican contenders Michele Coyle and Jean Fritz, and Independent Jason Van Dame, in the November election. The Lansdale First Political Action Committee and the Lansdale Democratic Committee endorsed Fuller. Howard is also endorsed by the Lansdale Democratic Committee, as well as the Friends of Lansdale PAC. Wolf is …

Letter: NPHS Gifted Student Proud of Mentorship of Fuller

Submit letters to the editor at lansdale@patch.com or tonyd@patch.com.

Hello, My name is Sara McConnell. I am currently in a mentorship with Councilwoman Mary Fuller. I am writing this so that everyone knows how great a person she is. She is so dedicated to making Lansdale a better place that she puts in hours and hours of her spare time into coming up with new ways to make the borough better. I contacted Mrs. Fuller last spring about possibly becoming my mentor. I explained that the mentorship would be a part of the Gifted Mentorship program of North Penn High School. I told her that I realized that she is a very busy woman, as I could see from her list of duties on the borough website. However, that is exactly why I wanted her to be my mentor. The fact that she is a mom, has a job, and can still find the …

Letter: Fuller is 'What You See, You Get' Lansdale Councilwoman

Submit letters to the editor at lansdale@patch.com.

I love Lansdale. It's that simple. I have devoted much of my time and effort over the last two decades, and especially the last four years, working to improve the community in which I live. It's what I do. It's who I am. Those of you who remember me from my Knapp Elementary School days know that; those of you who have gotten to know me during my first term on council have learned that. For the last four years, I have proudly served as your elected councilwoman and most recently as your council vice president. I enjoy chairing the Parks and Recreation, Library, and Economic Development committees as well as serving on the Public Safety and Appointments committees. The work I do with these committees allows me to be in constant touch with …

I am new to Lansdale area (2004) and do not live in Lansdale Borough nor is my business located here however I feel compelled to post this comment. I met Mary while we both were volunteering at Manna on Main Street in 2010. Unknown to me at the time Mary was already active in Boro government and while serving together at Manna one day I commented that it seemed to me that Lansdale had potential …   more ›

$1 Per Hour Meter Parking Taxing on Lansdale Businesses

A couple of Lansdale business owners and borough administration representatives discussed the purpose of and reason for $1 an hour parking rates in West Main Street's downtown district.

The new $1 an hour parking fees on meters on West Main Street in the downtown Lansdale business district is making change, according to one business owner. Roger Hammond, owner of Next Generation Web Technologies at 312 W. Main St., asked borough administration representatives in attendance at Tuesday evening's town hall session why there are $1 an hour parking meters, which are limited to quarters only. Hammond said the rate will affect commerce negatively for downtown businesses. Hammond's issue came up in a brief introductory inquiry on the future parking situation for the Madison Lot Redevelopment. "At $1 an hour, we'll go out of business," he said. Councilwoman Mary Fuller, who co-moderates the town hall session with Lansdale Business…

Lansdale Democratic PAC Not Supporting Re-Election of Incumbents

Councilman Jack Hansen has directed a former borough solicitor to urge Friends of Lansdale supporters not to support the re-elections of Mary Fuller and Matt West — and instead push for a new slate of council members that share his 'progressive vision.'

Democratic Borough Councilman Jack Hansen has directed a former borough solicitor, whose firm was ousted by a majority council vote in 2010, to urge a Lansdale Democratic Political Action Committee not throw its support behind the re-election of two incumbent Democratic councilmembers—and instead push for a "new slate" of Democrats that share Hansen's "progressive visions." Hansen, chairman of the Lansdale Democratic Committee, said the PAC Friends of Lansdale is not supporting incumbents Mary Fuller and president Matt West because "they have not supported our party or our candidates since they started their campaign in February 2009." "They have rarely shown up at our Lansdale Democrat meetings or supported our events," Hansen said. So, …

I had declared my candidacy for Borough Council for Ward 3 in January at a LDC meeting. I am a Committee Person for ward 3-2 and have served on the 311 task force. I was told by Jack that I would not be endorsed because two years ago I broke from the party endorsed candidate and supported Denton Burnell, who won not only the primary that year, but also won the general election and became a …   more ›

Fuller Named VP of Lansdale Council

Fuller, chairwoman of the Economic Development Committee and of nonprofit Discover Lansdale, now adds vice president to her title.

That’s Ms. Vice President to you. At last week’s Lansdale Borough Council meeting, Mary Fuller was appointed vice president of council in a 7-2 vote. Dissenting votes were from Democrats Rich DiGregorio Jr. and Jack Hansen. DiGregorio had nominated Hansen for the vice presidency. Fuller, a registered Democrat, was nominated by Councilman Dan Dunigan. “As much as you know, with the resignation of Vice President (Paul) Clemente, as of Jan. 1, we have had no vice president,” Council President Matt West said. “With the appointment of the representative from Ward 1, we wanted to wait a month to give everyone an opportunity to be considerate and consider the vote.” Aside from her role as council vice president, Fuller also chairs the parks and …

Lansdale Municipal Complex Renovations Talk of Town Hall

At the informal Lansdale Town Hall Session Tuesday night, residents and officials discussed a plethora of items — among them the potential renovations of 1 Vine Street and vacation of Railroad Avenue

What was once the home of the Dewey Decimal System is now home to the criminal justice system. What was once the post is now host to votes. Lansdale Police Department and Lansdale Borough Hall have history to them: The former was the Lansdale Library in the 1950s and the latter was the original Lansdale Post Office in the 1930s. Now, both buildings are the center of a facilities update in the borough. Both were deemed in poor condition, with countless mechical, structural and aesthetical problems, insufficient and tight spaces, and poorly-designed layouts. Council can choose to build onto them or demolish them in favor of new state-of-the-art buildings — or do nothing. The municipal complex renovations were the talk of Lansdale's Town Hall…

I am in total agreement with Mr. Henning. "A big NO for options 3 & 4. At the very least the outer walls should preserved & reused for new building. This is done all the time to old buildings in the city. That is a landmark building in Lansdale and we need to stop just tearing them down and regretting it later.".   more ›

First Fridays 'Open House' in February for Business Owners, Sponsors

Discover Lansdale Chairwoman Mary Fuller announced plans for an off-season First Fridays event to benefit potential and current sponsors and businesspersons in and around Lansdale

First Fridays continue, even in the off season. Discover Lansdale Chairwoman Mary Fuller, who also serves as a Lansdale Borough Councilwoman and Parks and Recreation Committee Chairwoman, updated said committee Wednesday night of plans for an open house for business owners and sponsors to see how their money benefits First Friday, and how First Friday benefits their businesses. The open house is tentatively set for Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lansdale Parks and Recreation Building. Fuller promoted it as a PowerPoint presentation, along with food and beverages. "Our plan is to invite business owners, particularly ones in the downtown, and potential sponsors, and spend some time one-on-one talking to these people about how First Friday …

First Friday Returns in April 2013

Lansdale Councilwoman and Discover Lansdale Chairwoman Mary Fuller reviewed the success of December's First Friday at a recent committee meeting

Santa Claus came to town on November 30, and that meant letters. Tabora Farms donated the Letters to Santa Writing Station at Discover Lansdale's First Friday that night, and what resulted was a big sack of wish lists. "The Discover Lansdale elves want to tell everyone they will, in fact, get what they put on their list," said Fuller. Fuller reviewed what is considered a successful First Friday to wrap 2012 at the parks and recreation committee meeting last week. First Friday will return in April 2013. Discover Lansdale already has some musical acts booked, including Beatles tribute band Almost Fab and Philly Funk Authority. Discover Lansdale has been in contact with the bands Where's Pete?, Slimfit, The Mighty Manatees and singer-…
