The brass ensemble will add some flair to Lansdale's annual Menorah lighting at Railroad Plaza
It was the inspiration of one fantastic musical event in Lansdale that lead to the creation of a brand new one, set to premiere Saturday evening. "When the Montgomery County Concert Band brought TubaChristmas to Lansdale, which is a national thing, I turned to a fellow horn layer and said, 'Let's do Horns of Hanukkah.' That was 12 years ago," said Lansdale resident and Montgomery County Concert Band member Kim Newell. "This year, we have a new guy in the band, Neil Goldberg, and he said, 'We're doing it. We keep talking about it, we're doing it.' Diane Frank made a logo. We are working on music and we have our inaugural performance tonight," Newell said. Horns of Hanukkah will play Hanukkah songs at 6 p.m., prior to the 6:30 p.m. …

Parks and Recreation Director Carl Saldutti reviewed the success of the Lansdale Tree Lighting, the Santa House, Lansdale Historical Society's open house and the TubaChristmas Concert from the weekend of November 30
Now that Christmas season is in full swing in Lansdale Borough, the parks and recreation department couldn't be more pleased with all the events that ushered it last weekend. "It was a nice weekend of holiday events in the community. The tree lighting went quite well. There are a lot of people that make that event the success that it is," Saldutti said. Of them: Lansdale Borough Electric Department, who erected the Christmas tree and set up the Santa House. "They did a remarkable job getting the Santa House wired up for us," Saldutti said. Public Works, did the "things necessary" to assist…

The beginning of Hanukkah is marked by the lighting of the menorah at Railroad Plaza
A small group of Jewish residents weathered the cold and rain on Tuesday night, coming together to celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah by lighting the ceremonial menorah at Railroad Plaza. "[The ceremony] started with Mike DiNunzio going to a friend of his -- Dalzk Feith -- who was a concentration camp survivor and wealthy businessman who is since deceased," said Alan Gold, who has coordinated the lighting for more than a decade. "[Feith] gave $50,000 to construct the menorah and sponsor it every year so we wouldn't need to rely on public funds." Prior to the lighting, the group huddled underneath a tent, singing holiday-themed songs before saying a few prayers. Afterwards, two extremely excited children raced to the electric plug to …
