Six of 20 Remaining Suspects in Meth Ring Have Hearings Today

Remaining 14 suspects will have preliminary hearings on June 6

A "big player" arrested and charged in the methamphetamine trafficking ring busted May 8 - Francesco "Frank" Messina of Hatfield Township - is one of six suspects scheduled for a preliminary hearing today at 10:45 before District Judge Andrea Duffy in Montgomeryville. The remaining 14 either have hearings moved to June 6 at 10 a.m. or are inactive cases at this time. One suspect - Dan Ells, of 225 East Second Street, Apt. B in Lansdale - is the only one with a hearing scheduled on a different date from the other suspects: May 29 at 11:15 a.m. Ells is represented by Thomas Egan III of Norristown, according to court papers. Councilman Commends Lansdale Police for Busting Meth Lab

Councilman Mike Sobel, chairman of the public safety committee, asked for a congratulatory applause for Lansdale Police for doing what they are supposed to do

As part of National Police Week, councilman Mike Sobel, who chairs the public safety committee in Lansdale, commended Lansdale Police for its efforts in busting a meth lab on Blaine Street. "We all look for vindication in our lives," Sobel said Wednesday night at the council meeting. "It's a personal thing with me with our police department. When I was elected to council and selected to be on the public safety committee, I met with the chief. We talked about a lot of things and the one thing was they needed some help over there." Sobel said the council and administration stepped up and got the police the help that they needed in the department and also invested in some equipment for them.
