Santa Claus arrives at Montgomery Mall tonight at 6 p.m

1. Tonight is First Friday in Lansdale from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring the Lansdale Business Association third-annual Trick or Treat Walk from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting at Railroad Plaza. Lansdale Library also holds a used book sale from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. 2. Santa Claus arrives at Montgomery Mall tonight at 6 p.m. Santa will ride around the outside of the mall on an FDMT truck beginning at the upper level entrance near Salsa’s Mexican Restaurant. [Update Sept. 11] Wegmans Wants to Sell Beer, Wine at New Market

Wegmans Food Market has requested a public hearing for a liquor license transfer into Montgomery Township, in order to serve beer, wine and liquor, and offer take-out beer, at a proposed restaurant inside the store being built at Montgomery Mall

Update Sept. 11, 2012 Montgomery Township Supervisors Monday night approved a resolution to set a public hearing on a liquor license transfer for Wegmans on October 9 after 8 p.m. Earlier Story Below Montgomery Township Supervisors this evening will vote on holding a public hearing on October 9 to approve or deny a liquor license transfer request from Wegmans Food Markets, which will open next year at Montgomery Mall. Montgomery Township should approve the request and then have the funds from the sale frozen to cover all of the Creditors that were apart of Joe Canazaro's 2008 Chapter 7 Bankruptcy filing 08-15893 It appears Montgomery Township was on the list of Creditors included in that Bankruptcy filing . Anti-Romney, Ryan Pink Slip Event Thursday in Montgomeryville

A MoveOn.org petition where people will distribute one million Romney-Ryan pink slips will occur Thursday at Montgomery Mall

A MoveOn.org petition against presidential Republican candidate Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan is set to occur Thursday at Montgomery Mall in Montgomeryville. A group of individuals is organzing an anti-Romney-Ryan pink slip flyering event at 2 p.m. It is organized by Donna Cockenberg. According to a MoveOn.org event post, the event is being done because Romney and Ryan's "extreme economic policies would cost the U.S. one million jobs in just one year and more than 4 million jobs by the end of 2014."  The event post claims a campaign to expose Romney as a 1 percent candidate is working. Protesters Organize Chick-fil-A Same Sex Kiss Day for Friday

Mike Huckabee has called Wednesday, Aug. 1 "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" and Protesters have have responded with "Chick-fil-A Same Sex Kiss Day" on Friday, Aug. 3.

Library Patrons Go Behind-the-Scenes at Chick-fil-A

Lansdale Library's "Explore Your Town" program showed interested children and parents what goes into daily preparation at the fast food chicken sandwich restaurant at Montgomery Mall

In one day, Chick-fil-A at the Montgomery Mall will go through 600 chicken patties, freshly squeeze four cases of lemons for its lemonade and serve about 600 people. Twelve youths and five adults got a behind-the-scenes look at Chick-fil-A at the Montgomery Mall Thursday morning, led by owner and operator Mike Endicott of Hamilton, NJ. It was all part of Lansdale Library's "Explore Your Town" program. Before the tour, Endicott gave a bit of background on the company.  Chick-fil-A was started by Truett Cathy in 1967.  "When he was eight years old," Endicott said, "what he did to help his parents make money during the Depression was he got a red wagon and he would buy six packs of Coca-Cola. Supervisors Approve Wegmans Development

Montgomery Township will have a Wegmans supermarket at Montgomery Mall in Montgomeryville come 2013

Wegmans is officially coming to Montgomeryville. Montgomery Township Supervisors Monday night unanimously gave conditional preliminary/final approval to Simon Property Group for the development of a Wegmans supermarket on the site of the old Boscov's department store. The market is set to open in Fall 2013, according to Simon Property Group counsel Robert Brant. The development is underway at Montgomery Mall. The two-story space that housed Boscov's (and, at one time, John Wanamaker's) has been demolished in preparation for the construction of the store. Man Suffers Head Injury After Fall Down Escalator

A 50-year-old man fell down the entire escalator at Montgomery Mall and was unconscious. He was flown to an area hospital by PennStar

Montgomery Township Police said a man was flown by PennStar to the hospital following a fall down an escalator at Montgomery Mall. According to The Reporter, the 50-year-old man was unconscious at the scene. Montgomery County Fire reported the subject suffered head trauma. Volunteer Medical Service Corps responded to the scene, as did Fire Department of Montgomery Township. The man's identity and condition are not known. Stay tuned for further updates.

Mom's Nite Out at Montgomery Mall

The national event benefitting Dress for Success came to Montgomery Mall Thursday night

Moms had a break from their busy daily lives to spend time with their friends and check out some samplings and exhibits from stores inside Montgomery Mall during the nationwide Mom's Nite Out event. Diet Coke, Dove Body Wash, Little Black Dress Vodka, StriVectin, and VISIT FLORIDA sponsored the event, which ran locally from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Mall stores represented at the event included Blue Mountain Vineyards, Sephora, The Ladies Room, Famous Footwear, Chick-fil-A, Cardinal Camera, Persona, Salsa's and J.C. Penney Portrait Studio. Geppert Bros. Demolition in Colmar is knocking down the former Boscov's site in preparation for construction of Wegmans

Goodbye, Boscov's. Hello, Wegmans. The Colmar division of Geppert Brothers Demolition is busy destroying, pulling down and ripping out the upper and lower levels of the former Boscov's store at Montgomery Mall in Montgomeryville. A Wegmans will be built in its place, with a projected opening in 2013. In November 2011, Simon Property Group signed an agreement with Wegmans to construct a freestanding grocery store next to the mall. "It will be freestanding and will not be connected to the mall," said Jo Natale, Wegmans director of media relations, in November 2011. Wegmans opens three stores every year.
