A Montgomery Township man, who allegedly sexually assaulted a minor girl in his home and gave her marijuana and Percocet, which caused unconsciousness, waived his preliminary hearing Thursday morning in Montgomeryville district court, according to Mike Goldberg of The Reporter. Thomas A. Tucci Jr., 36, of the 200 block of Cricklewood Circle, faces a felony count of corruption of minors, two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one misdemeanor count of indecent assault and one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children, according to court records. The Montgomeryville and Chalfont stores will close in mid-February, due to low sales
The Bottom Dollar Food stores in Montgomeryville and Chalfont will close by mid-February. Delhaize Group, which owns Bottom Dollar Food and Food Lion, announced Thursday that it is also closing 33 Sweetbay stores in Florida and eight Food Lion stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. About 2,000 employees will be displaced in the closures. Chief Financial Officer Pierre Bouchet said the Bottom Dollar Food stores were “loss-making stores.” The closure of the three Bottom Dollars — the third is in Reading — and the Sweetbay and Food Lion stors will bring in about $40 million in underlying profits, according to Delhaize America. Take SEPTA to and from Montgomeryville? Your routes are safe. SEPTA announced Wednesday that Routes 94 and 132 will not be eliminated as part of a plan to make up for lost county funding. There are changes, however, that benefit evening shift workers and Montgomery County Community College students, according to PhillyBurbs.com. According to PhillyBurbs.com, the greatest change on Routes 94 and 132 will be on Sundays, as service will be limited due to low ridership. The Route 94 is to and from Montgomery Mall and Chestnut Hill, with stops at Montgomery County Community College and Ambler. Route 132 is the route for Telford, Montgomery Mall and Lansdale. Montgomery Township Supervisors have a vision for a regional community and recreation center at Stump and Horsham roads, presented a public meeting Monday by contracted firm Kimmel-Bogrette Architecture + Site. The vision is this: a 39,000-square-foot, two-story facility with a gymnasium with two full basketball courts, two flex-space community rooms with a kitchen, a child watch area, a weight/cardio room, a youth lounge, a cafe, two exercise rooms, a suspended walking/jogging track, three multipurpose studio spaces and a senior citizen activity room. A collective sigh of relief seemed to emanate from the public officials gathered at the 202 Parkway's ribbon-cutting ceremony on the George Niblock Bridge in Warrington. After decades of planning, shelving of the plans, debates over new plans, funding issues and, finally, construction, the feeling of accomplishment running through the crowd has been a long time coming. PECO reports downed wire as the cause. Repairs will be done in next coupe of hours. Several traffic lights reported to be out of service.
9:30 p.m. Update PECO is reporting power is restored as of 8:45 p.m. The downed wire was in the area of Route 202 and Route 309. Readers reported outages as far as Route 152 and Route 202 in Chalfont, and to past Hatfield Ice on County Line Road in Colmar. There were also outages reported in Montgomery Commons Shopping Center at North Wales Road and Welsh Road in Montgomery Township. 7:41 p.m. Update PECO representative Liz Williamson said a downed wire is the cause of the outage. A location has not be specified. Repairs should be done "within the next couple of hours." Outages are reported in Chalfont Borough and in areas of Hatfield Township.
