Montgomery Township Supervisors recognized K-9 Officer Aston for his nine years of service with township police
For the past nine years, Montgomery Township Police Sgt. Glenn Davis has been the handler for K-9 Officer Aston. More importantly, they have been partners. Aston, a nearly 8-year-old German shepherd, retired from service on Oct. 17. On Monday night, flanked by Davis, Davis' wife Tiffany and their sons Cooper and Jacob, Aston was honored and recognized for his service by township supervisors with a plaque — and some dog biscuits. A Chalfont police officer was wounded after being shot in the chest early Monday morning near the Lenape Valley Swim Club.

Earlier Story A standard piece of police equipment just may have saved the life of a Chalfont police officer Monday morning. Chalfont Borough officer Jon Cousin was shot in the chest early Monday morning while investigating a suspicious vehicle. But he was wearing a bulletproof vest, and within hours, had been treated and released from an area hospital. The officer was shot around 3:30 a.m. when he was checking into a suspicious vehicle on the 100 block of Westview Avenue, near the Lenape Valley Swim Club. Bridle Path Elementary families and neighbors of John and Linda Carlson held a bake sale fundraiser Sunday on Meadow Glen Road
Diets were put on hold and sweet tooths had a field day Sunday, all in the name of charity. Bridle Path Elementary families, as well as neighbors and friends of John and Linda Carlson, came together Sunday in Montgomery Township at a bake sale fundraiser at 1 Meadow Glen Road - home of Zak Jackson - to collect donations for the Carlsons. Two tables in front of the Jackson home were filled with cups of hot cocoa, brownies, a plethora of cookies in many varieties, brookies (cookies baked into brownies), Rice Krispies treats, pretzel sticks dipped in white chocolate, candy bars and more delectable pastries. At the close of the fundraiser at 3:30 p.m., $3,636 was raised for the family. Fire Department of Montgomery Township made an appearance…

Last month, parks and recreation chairwoman Mary Fuller made a motion to grant a conditional offer to three police officers for Lansdale Borough. Council voted unanimously, with public safety chairman Mike Sobel recusing himself since he is a member of the Civil Service Commission. The three officers hired are Matthew Eberle, Richard McCarrick and Daniel Gallagher. Fuller said council budgeted for two officers, and one officer will replace another officer that was relieved of duty. All three will be paid a salary of around $46,000. Public Safety Advisory Committee recently met to discuss recent business and topics of public safety
Montgomery Township Police Chief Rich Brady announced at the Public Safety Advisory Committee meeting Wednesday evening that the township is currently in the process of interviewing, selecting and then training a new law enforcement canine that could be on duty as early as this May. “The department has chosen Officer Daniel Rose to be the new dog’s handler,” said Brady. Montgomery Count District Attorney Risa Furman is donating $6,000 to offset the cost of the training. The dog selected will be trained at the Tarheel Canine Training facility in North Carolina.
