Lansdale Police Chief Robert McDyre said police are monitoring parking problems at both areas of the borough.
Lansdale Police Chief Robert McDyre updated the public safety committee last Wednesday on the current statuses of two parking issues in the borough. A Penn Street resident who lives directly across from Penndale Middle School had complained of being parked in by school staff. McDyre said the driveway is narrow, and not real well marked. When he visited the location, there were no parking violations. McDyre said he would work with the homeowner on the issue. “We will monitor it,” he said. “We will watch for violations. When there’s something like a Back to School Night, it’s dark and you don’t see it well at night.” Nearly five blocks away, at Ridge and East Main streets, there was another parking congestion issue at the intersection. …

Councilman Jason Van Dame reported to the Lansdale Public Safety Committee of a resident complaint about their driveway being blocked by Penndale Middle School teachers and faculty, according to Van Dame.
Lansdale Police will investigate what they can do to ease parking problems being faced by a resident on the 500 block of Penn Street, near Penndale Middle School. "Regularly, his driveway is blocked by cars parking along there," said Councilman Jason Van Dame during this month's public safety committee meeting. "He called the department many times to come out and ticket the cars blocking him. But is there any signage to recommend?" Illegal immigrant Elias Castro-Martinez, 38, of Honduras, is headed to trial on aggravated assault, terroristic threats and identify theft charges in Hatfield Township, following a Tuesday preliminary hearing at Souderton district court. According to PhillyBurbs.com, the suspect was using a false name and Social Security Card belonging to a woman from another state. According to the article, Castro-Martinez allegedly assaulted Orlando Alvarado Castro in their Penn Street apartment on Nov. 17. A Lansdale resident, who was initially under investigation by Souderton Police for alleged marijuana sales in Souderton, was arrested and charged Dec. 7 by Lansdale Police for allegedly dealing marijuana from her Penn Street residence. Jennifer Victoria Crawford, 22, of the 100 block of Penn Street, is charged with felony manufacture, delivery or possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture or deliver; misdemeanor posession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, according to court records. Crawford was arraigned Dec. 7 before District Judge Harold Borek and remanded to Montgomery County prison in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, according to court records. Morgan Properties, owner of Main Street Apartments and Forge Gate Apartments in Towamencin, and Brookside Manor in Hatfield, recently acquired the former silk factory at Line and Penn streets in Lansdale
The Silk Factory Lofts in Lansdale, located at Penn and Line streets, was acquired by real estate company Morgan Properties in a sheriff sale, according to Crissa Shoemaker DeBree of The Intelligencer. The property at 200 S. Line Street, and its accompanying neighboring site at 152 Prospect Avenue, went into mortgage foreclosure in July 2010, according to Montgomery County Prothonotary Records. The lender was GE Business Financial Services, Inc. The debt amount for the property was $28,025,457, according to county records. It was sold for costs on Oct. 31, 2012. Courtenay Jernigan, 37, was sentenced to time-served to 23 months in prison afer pleading guilty Thursday to endangering the welfare of a child
Hatfield mother Courtenay L. Jernigan, 37, admitted in Montgomery County Court Thursday to getting drunk, passing out, and leaving her 11-day-old daughter in an unheated car in 28-degree December weather for two hours. According to PhillyBurbs.com, Jernigan pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and was sentenced to time-served to 23 months in prison. Jernigan, a two-time DUI offender, has been in jail since her Dec. 12 arrest, according to court records. Following parole, Jernigan will served a three-year probation, according to the article. A Lansdale man convicted in Bucks County Court of Common Pleas in 2010 for theft of movable property has been arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and prowling in the borough. Lafonsa Perry, 22, is accused of having sex with an 11-year-old girl in his Penn Street home
The 12-year-old girl that Lafonsa Perry, 22, of Lansdale, is accused of raping last year testified at a preliminary hearing in the court of District Judge Harold Borek Thursday that the sex was consensual, according to The Reporter Online. Regardless, the state considers the incident statutory rape by law. Police said Lafonsa Perry, 22, had a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl
Police have charged a Lafonsa Perry, 22, who lives near Penndale Middle School, with child rape, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault under 13, indecent assault under 16, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. The 12-year-old female victim told Mission Kids and police that she smoked weed with, and engaged in intercourse with, 22-year-old Lafonsa Perry, police said. Perry was arrested on April 23. I am very thankful Police Chief Robert McDyre and the police are monitoring the parking situation on Ridge and Main Street. It is very difficult to make a turn onto Ridge Street from Main Street because of the parking and oncoming traffic. I have thought Ridge Street should be made into a one way street.
