Jet Plastica Closing in June

The plastics manufactuer has run out of money and needs a buyer

Jet Plastica, a plastics manufacturer that dates its roots back to 1947, will close for good by the summer. About 363 people will be out of a job, according to a Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry WARN notice. Jet Plastica is located at 1100 Schwab Road in Hatfield Township.  The company began as two separate entities. According to www.Jetplastica.com, Plastica Company Inc., was founded in North Wales in 1947 and manufactured plastic spoons, forks and knives. Jet Container Corporation was founded in Lowell, MA in 1962 and manufactured plastic cups. Plastica purchased Jet Container in 1982 and moved to Hatfield. Nope sorry ace Jet Plastica was brought down by an incompetant management team that was brought in a couple years ago. After they ran their previous company out of business they continued with their ways and did the same with Jet.   more ›

Lansdale Borough ratifies police and allied workers union contracts

Each officer will receive 3.5 percent wage increases the first two years and 3 percent increases in the last two years. The contract agreements were completed without arbitration

The Lansdale Borough Police Benevolent Association and the Allied Workers Union have come to four-year agreements on their respective contracts with the borough. Last week, borough councilman Dan Dunigan announced each contract agreement is effective Jan. 1, 2011, to Dec. 31, 2014.   “(The police contract ratification) was done so without arbitration,” Dunigan said, adding it had an exceptional vote of support from the police. “We avoided the pitfalls of the past of creating an adversarial relationship,” Dunigan said. “It was mutual.
