Get Real

What Pre-Foreclosure Means

Lisa Loper of the Scott Loper Team explains a frequently misunderstood term in the real estate market.

We frequently have buyers asking us about pre-foreclosure homes that they found on the internet.  There are many sites that will give consumers this type of information.  Most of these homes are not listed for sale, but some buyers want to know if they can still see the property with the possibility of buying it. Pre-foreclosure simply means that a homeowner has fallen behind on their mortgage payments.  And while a foreclosure may eventually happen, at the current time, the home is still rightfully owned by the mortgagor (i.e. homeowner).  It does NOT mean that the home is available for sale.  In fact, that home may never be available for sale. In most cases, a homeowner does NOT want to sell OR lose their home to a foreclosure.  The …

You're Welcome, Earth: Patch Editors Cleanup Montco Trail on Give 5 Day

For the Patch and Aol Give 5 Day, eight Patchers from Montgomery County volunteered and cleaned up nearly a ton of trash from the Cross County Trail.

What does it say about us as a people in this ecosystem when nearly a ton of trash is collected from either side of a two-mile trail? It says there’s a whole hell of a lot more to go. For the volunteer Give 5 program of Patch and Aol, seven local editors of Patch sites of Eastern Pennsylvania One-Regional One spent seven hours Thursday discarding trash from the Cross County Trail. In the end, we collected 34 bags of trash, each weighing about 50 pounds. That is 1,700 pounds—more than three-quarters of a ton—of trash. In seven hours. In just two miles. “I think it is really impressive that our company, Aol, gives us the work hours to do volunteering like this,” said Melissa Treacy, regional editor for Montgomery County Patch sites. “It is …
