Supervisors Agree to $5.5M Seven-Year Reset Loan in 3-1-1 Vote

The loan would be used to finance a property purchased for a future community center

Supervisors voted 3-1-1 this month to accept a financing agreement with Univest for a $5.5 million, 20-year reset loan, at a rate of 2.55 percent fixed for seven years, with the rate resetting every seven years at 67 percent of the prime, in order to finance a $1.5 million property purchased across the street from the administration building that could be the future site of a community center. It is these kinds of homes that bring down the value of non-distressed properties. In Pennsylvania, the distressed property rate is 17 percent, as of last month.  We are in better shape than most states.  Only Iowa, New Mexico, South Dakota and Alaska have fewer distressed properties.  That …

The Lansdale Parking Authority has begun cleaning up property disorganization in the borough

Ever hear of the Lansdale Municipal Authority? Neither has Lansdale Borough Council. Yet Lansdale Municipal Authority owns four properties – three of which are not in Lansdale Borough. According to Montgomery County public land records, the Lansdale Municipal Authority has two addresses: one at 421 W. Main St. and another at 2225 Kriebel Road. The first is the location of District Court 38-1-28 – the former home of Lansdale Borough Hall – and the second is the location of the Upper Gwynedd-Towamencin Municipal Authority in Towamencin Township. Furthermore, the Lansdale Parking Authority owns property that has nothing to do with parking – like White’s Road Park. In converse, Lansdale Borough owns parcels that deal with parking. The real …
