The organization GMO Free USA is urging people to organize boycotts of Kellogg's for, what it claims, its use of genetically-modified ingredients in products. Events are planned in Montgomery Township and Willow Grove.
A boycott of the Kellogg’s corporation by GMO Free USA comes in the way of a “Honk-N-Wave” on Saturday on the Route 202 Parkway trail, and another on Sunday in Willow Grove. The event is meant to raise awareness about genetically-modified ingredients in Kellogg’s products, according to its website. Protesters will rally from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the parkway trail near Giant in Montgomery Township. The second Honk-N-Wave is Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Walmart in Willow Grove. Sign up for the Willow Grove boycott at this link on Corporate Action Network. GMO gives suggestions for boycotters to urge Kellogg’s to go GMO free on its website.

About three dozen people lined Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Friday.
Holding signs that read "Hey middle class, they are coming for your $ next," and "Taxing the rich hurts everyone," a group of about three dozen people protested President Barack Obama's visit to Hatfield Friday morning. The protestors gathered in the vacant lot of a closed down gas station near the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Unionville Road in Hatfield, waving signs and garnering the occasional honk in return. "This isn't really about Democrats or Republicans, it's about the fiscal policies and that we don't like where President Obama is taking this country," said Steve Piotrowski, chair of the Norristown-based Citizens for Liberty and organizer of the protest. "I personally would like to see Obamacare repealed, along with the …

Residents of Forest Avenue, Highland Avenue and East Main Street wanted council to table the vote on a preliminary/final land development on the Lansdale Collaborative Project until officials addressed the entranceway from Forest Avenue
They tried to stop it with 41 names on a petition. They have attended numerous public safety committee meetings and planning commission meetings for months to get their concerns resolved. They came out in full force Wednesday night and requested Lansdale Borough Council deny and table a vote on preliminary and final land development approval for the YMCA/PEAK Center/Advanced Living Communities/Manna on Main Street project — at least until all resident concerns are addressed. All they wanted was a restriction on the entrance into the property from Forest Avenue, which has served as one since as long as Lans-Bowl and the North Penn YMCA have been in existence. Yet, the efforts of the residents of Forest Avenue, Highland Avenue and East Main …

Despite being prevented by police from protesting in front of the prison, the movement voiced their concerns regarding Governor Corbett’s priorities.
Decarcerate Pennsylvania protested the Graterford Prison expansion on Tuesday, though it was semi-thwarted when members of the Pennsylvania State Police prevented them from walking onto the Graterford complex. The group had initially planned to meet at Perkiomen Valley High School and walk to the prison entrance, but state police prevented them from making the trek citing safety concerns. “We prevented them from obstructing the highway – we did it for their safety,” said a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper. “People are going to start looking at them, and not pay attention to the way they are driving, so it is an issue of safety.” Despite the concerns from police, Decarcerate Pennsylvania member Hakim Ali believes that the police were not …

The protest seeks to raise awareness of the $400 million Graterford Prison expansion at a time when the state is cutting budgets elsewhere.
Members of the Decarcerate Pennsylvania movement will once again take aim at Governor Corbett on Tuesday afternoon, as a planned protest seeks to raise awareness to the $400 million Graterford Prison expansion at a time when state funding for education and health services is on the decline. "Governor Corbett just began construction of two new prisons on the grounds of SCI Graterford in Montgomery County," reads a recent posting on the DecarceratePA Web site. "Meanwhile, Corbett has slashed hundreds of millions of dollars from education, environmental protection, homeowners assistance, and healthcare and mental health services." As previously reported by Patch, the construction project at Graterford will establish two new prison facilities …

Four Christian women protested outside Corpus Christi Church Wednesday against the proposed contraception mandate
The right to free exercise of religion is stated there in black and brown in the U.S. Constitution. But American Christians nationwide are using the freedom of assembly and petition to get the word out against an HHS mandate under the Affordable Care Act. One such assembly against what is believed to be an attack on religious freedom occurs every Wednesday on the grounds of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Upper Gwynedd along Sumneytown Pike. That is where Carolyn Stenger, of Schwenksville, and three other peers were protesting Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m. They will return there every Wednesday, same time, and on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. "We are outside to evangelize and protect religious freedom," said Stenger, who said Corpus …

The new group is different and equally diverse from the current Occupy Lansdale movement
Dissatisfied with the direction and message of the current Occupy Lansdale event, organized by resident Jeannette McGinley, Hatfield resident Frank Charles Smith has formed a splintered group called Occupy Wall Street Lansdale, and he plans to rally at Lansdale Borough Hall Dec. 18. In a press release, the OWS Lansdale was formed "in order to help preserve the integrity of the occupation in Lansdale, and to help increase the overall presence of the Occupy movement within the 13th Congressional District." "I started to feel that the direction we were heading in as a group wasn't in the same direction of the Occupy Wall Street movement," said Smith. "It was only fair that, after much consideration, that I would separate from the group to …

Tonight's Occupy Lansdale will feature a speaker from Quaker Friends Meetinghouse
For five days, from Nov. 17 on, about 30 people gathered in Railroad Plaza and peacefully protested the loss of civil rights and bringing back the republic. For five days, they endured middle fingers flashing out windows of passers-by and expletive-filled remarks shouted to them from the roadways. It hasn't deterred their goal, and that's why Occupy Lansdale is returning tonight - and every consecutive Monday from here on out - to Railroad Plaza. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., tonight's Occupy Lansdale will have guest speaker Jim Quinn, of Quaker Friends Meetinghouse in Lower Gwynedd. Quinn is a historian and will speak about his beliefs on civil liberty. Guitarist Bill Kane will also play in between breaks. "We are trying to educate," said …
