Lansdale Borough Manager Timi Kirchner and Council President Matt West recognized borough employees for their aid and support during Hurricane Sandy's melee
When Hurricane Sandy hit in Lansdale, the definition of "teamwork" went into effect. On Wednesday night, Lansdale Borough staff were honored and recognized for their brave help during the hurricane. "What time to honor local goverment than when it is the most responsive," said Lansdale Borough Manager Timi Kirchner Wednesday night at the award ceremony. "We are seeing Lansdale's finest here." Kirchner said staff was in the command center at Fairmount Fire Co., at Lansdale Borough Hall and at Lansdale Police Department to make sure everyone was safe, that the lights stayed on and that the roads were passable throughout the night. Montgomery Township supervisors recently approved land development waiver
Joseph Ambler Inn can move forward with its lounge and dining area expansion, but a rain garden may or may not be necessary on its property in order to handle the additional footage. The Montgomery Township granted a land development waiver to the business recently. Business owner Richard Allman wants to add 821 square feet to the dining area and 280 square feet to the lounge. “They are bump-outs to both buildings,” said zoning and planning director Bruce Shoupe. Shoupe said township engineer John Chambers reviewed the waiver, and said a rain garden may have to be installed. Shoupe said, however, that major upgrades were completed 10 years ago, and at that time, a retention basin was expanded. “So a rain garden may not be required,” he …
