Lansdale Cleaning Up After Hurricane Sandy

Lansdale Borough Manager Timi Kirchner estimated it could take up to two weeks to clean up all the branches and debris in its various parks. She said parks staff and director Carl Saldutti have inspected all parks and assessed damage. "There are a number of trees either snapped off or uprooted in various park locations within the park system," she said in a statement to Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch. "To date, the footpaths and parking lots have been cleared of down trees and fallen limbs." Lansdale Parks and Recreation focused its clean up on those paths used by schoolchildren. Montgomery Twp. Road Closures

A look at roads closed in Montgomery Township in the wake of Hurricane Sandy

Montgomery Township Director of Fire Services Rick Lesniak released a list of closed roads in the township Tuesday morning. The following roads are closed in Montgomery Township: Montgomery Township would like motorists to comply with all temporary traffic control devices that block roads with downed trees and wires.  Please do not move cones or barricades.  PECO, PennDot and the Montgomery Township Department of Public Works are working hard to open these roadways. Also, residents are instructed not to touch ANY downed wire.

Road Closures Sunday for LIVESTRONG Bike Race

Several roads in Towamencin Township will be impacted Sunday by the 2012 bicycle race between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The 2012 LIVESTRONG Bike Race featuring Team LIVESTRONG Challenge Philly will take place Sunday throughout the Montgomery County region. According to the site, the seventh-annual event begins at Montgomery County Community College, with riders traveling distances of 10 to 100 miles.  At the finish line, each cancer survivor is celebrated with a yellow rose. A post-event party will follow. There are 20-, 45- and 100-mile options for the race Sunday. All three traverse parts of western and southern Towamencin Township, with the 100-mile option taking people as far as Berks County. Towamencin Township Police said the race will impact traffic in several areas between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., calling for periodic closures. Police advised avoiding …

Roads surrounding the Route 202 Parkway Project will have traffic delays and lane closures this week. In Montgomery and New Britian townships, County Line Road will be limited to one lane in each direction this week between Stump Road and Route 202/Butler Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drainage construction and road widening. Periodic single-lane patterns will occur on Route 202/DeKalb Pike between Sumneytown Pike and Route 63/Welsh Road in Upper and Lower Gwynedd townships this week between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for utility relocation and sound wall construction. Unless you like sitting in traffic, avoid Routes 202, 63 and County Line Road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. this week. Route 202/DeKalb Pike will be restricted to single-lane patterns between Sumneytown Pike (at William Penn Inn) and Route 63/Welsh Road (at the Super Wawa) in Upper and Lower Gwynedd townships for utility relocaiton and sound wall construction. There will be periodic lane closures on Route 63/Welsh Road between Stump Road and Bell Run Boulevard for utilit relocation and road widening work. County Line Road will be reduced to a single lane between Stump Road and Upper State roads from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drainage construction.
