Update: Woman Who Died From Fall Was Mother of 11 and Grandmother of 25

Carolyn M. Blum, 74, of Harleysville, had 11 children, 25 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren and was a paint specialist at Ace Hardware in Harleysville

Tuesday Update North Wales Police have identified the woman who succumbed to injuries from a fall at North Wales Elementary Saturday morning as Carolyn M. Blum, 74, of Harleysville. According to The Reporter, Blum was with her daughter Diane at the Mommy Market on Saturday, when she fell down a flight of stairs, hitting her head on the floor. According to her tribute, Blum was a paint specialist at Ace Hardware in Harleysville and was leader of the Montgomery County 4-H Poultry Club "Birds of a Different Feather." Blum was also the mother-in-law of Lansdale Borough Solicitor Mark Hosterman. A funeral is set for Thursday at Salford Mennonite Church, 480 Groff's Mill Road, Lower Salford from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment is Friday morning at …

Update: Victims ID'd in Fatal Silverdale Crash

The accident occurred Saturday evening at Routes 152 and 113. The victims are Mary E. Dodds, 49, of Montgomery Township, and Stacy Byrne, 32, of Croydon

Monday 12:51 a.m. Update The victims in Saturday's fatal accident in Silverdale Borough have been identified. The driver of the Chevrolet Cavalier was identified as Stacy Byrne, 32, of Prospect Avenue of Croydon, police said. The driver of the Toyota Camry — which hit the Cavalier from behind, struck a rock and went airborne — is identified as Mary E. Dodds, 49, of the 100 block of Damson Lane, Montgomery Township, police said. The passenger in the Cavalier who was injured was Byrne's husband, Ian Byrne. Lansdale Armed Robbery Suspect Tasered, Arrested Saturday Night

Stacy Beckett, 40, of Hatfield, allegedly put a gun to a woman's head while she sat in her car in a parking lot on Jenkins Avenue and demanded money and cigarettes

A Hatfield Township man is in Lansdale Police custody after allegedly committing an armed robbery on a woman who was behind the wheel of her car in a parking lot on Jenkins Avenue. Stacy Beckett, 40, of the 100 block of Tulip Drive, Hatfield Township, was arrested Saturday evening after allegedly robbing a 30-year-old woman at gunpoint on the unit block of Jenkins Avenue, near South Broad Street and Stanbridge Apartments. He was tasered and arrested about a 75 minutes after the 9 p.m. robbery on the unit block of East Second Street behind Citizens Bank, police said. Lansdale's Oktoberfest kicks off at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in White's Road Park — and the blue and white, Bavarian-style beer tent is up in the parking lot and ready for people to party. Later in the day, around 4 p.m., volunteers will be asked to take part in the first Masskrugstemmen Championship. All you have to do — hold a full liter stein of beer directly in front of you, with elbow locked in extension, for as long as possible without spillage. The American record is 10 minutes. Police Searching for Hit-and-Run Driver

An elderly female driver of a tan Mercury Grand Marquis fled the scene of an accident at Squirrel Lane and West Main Street Saturday morning

Lansdale Police are asking the public's help in identifying a hit-and-run driver that left the scene of an accident Saturday morning at West Main Street and Squirrel Lane. The subject is described as an elderly female, between 80 and 90 years of age, wearing black clothing, police said. She was driving a newer-model tan Mercury Grand Marquis, police said. The accident occurred around 9:35 a.m. at the intersection. The victim was a 78-year-old female from the 1100 block of Forest Avenue, Lansdale, who was driving a 1991 Ford Escort. A witness and the victim told police that the victim was traveling north with the green light across W. MontCo Issues 'Code Red' for Saturday Heat

Temperatures are expected to tip 100 degrees this weekend.

The Montgomery County Commissioners have declared a "Code Red" hot weather warning for Saturday, as county health officials expect an oppressively hot air mass to generate a heat index of 100 degrees or greater in the region. “We urge all of our residents, especially those most at risk, to please take steps to minimize the effects of the heat," said Josh Shapiro, chair of the Montgomery County Commissioners. "It is critical that the rest of us check on the elderly and others at risk during this hot weather." The alert in scheduled to be in effect from 12 noon to 8 pm Saturday, unless extended by the commissioners. Temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees by 11 a.m., and could reach 100 by around 1 p.m., a Weather.com forecast shows. …

Tornado Potatoes, Volcano Sodas and Lansdale Day

The sun came out Saturday afternoon and shined on a busy and entertaining Lansdale Day on Main Street

There were tornados galore in Lansdale on Saturday morning, and volcanos erupted out of plastic cups on West Main Street. Lansdale Day returned on a sunny and hot Saturday, a far converse over the previous evening's First Friday events.  Vendors including Lansdale Republican Committee, Lansdale Democratic Committee, Milestones in Music, Simple Brandz, The Reporter, The Intelligencer, Blue Comet Motorcycle Club and more showed off their wares and products to visitors of all ages. The most popular things at Lansdale Day: the North Penn Rotary-sponsored petting zoo, jumbo tornado potatoes and Bobby D's Liquid Volcanos - dry ice dropped into flavored sodas. Accidents Galore on Saturday

Numerous accidents plagued the North Penn and Indian Valley areas Saturday

It was a day of vehicular accidents and delayed traffic on Saturday in the North Penn and Indian Valley areas. It all began at 4 a.m. when a transformer fire in Montgomery Township cut out all the lights at the Five Points intersection. At around 11 a.m., Knapp Road was closed at North Wales Road due to a motor vehicle accident with a rescue on the Lansdale side. Commuters in the area of Welsh Road/W. Main Street/63 and West Orvilla Road were delayed by a three-vehicle accident that blocked the intersection – this is where Spaniel’s Exxon and the cemetery are located. Three Arrested in Saturday Drug Raids

One property on West Hancock Street was found in squalor with two young children present during the raid

Lansdale Police conducted two drug raids Saturday that resulted in three arrests and seizure of suspected crack cocaine and marijuana. The raids occurred at 39 E. Sixth Street and 34 W. Hancock Street. Arrested including the mother-son duo of Robin Green, 41, and Marc Wallace, 20; and Darrell Fernandez, 27. Living at Green and Wallace's apartment was a seven year old and a seven month old, police said. Police said the department had received numerous reports involving street level drug dealing of crack cocaine and marijuana over the past two years. Police officers, who were sworn as county District Attorney's Municipal Drug Task Force members, began a lengthy investigation in an attempt to track the source of the drug supply, police said. …
