Oldest Living Female Marine is Lansdale Native

The oldest female Marine in the state is alive and well in Blue Bell. Lansdale native Grace Ricci Bergman, 96, will be honored Monday in Washington, D.C. with a flag raising in her honor, according to The Intelligencer’s Amanda Cregan. Bergman was a personnel employee at Marines HQ in the nation’s capitol for two years. Bergman is one of 10 children of Italian immigrants who settled in Lansdale, according to the article. Bergman joined the Marines after her fiancé joined the Army and her brother went to fly for the Air Force during World War II, according to the story.
