Trappe restaurant owner is opening Oki Sushi in the North Penn Marketplace shopping center
The North Penn Marketplace at S. Valley Forge Road and Sumneytown Pike in Upper Gwynedd, will have a new tenant in early March. Oki Sushi, a new all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant, will open in early March, according to owner Kim Jollay. Jollay, owner of Trappe's Jasmine Asian House, said the new restaurant will be a new style buffet, where diners will pay one price and can order sushi, appetizers, and more. With no buffet table, Jollay explained that everything ordered will be made fresh with the benefits of an all-you-can-eat, where diners can try new items while still paying one price. The brewers from Prism Brewing Company and Round Guys Brewing Co. have been nominated for Rising Star Award from StarChefs.com.
A few local craft breweries were nominated for StarChefs 2013 Philadelphia Rising Stars Award. In a letter from the features editor, Caroline Hatchett explained the StarChefs team visited 10 breweries and would announce the winner of the brewer award at the Feb. 21 Rising Stars gala at the Kimmel Center. Locally, Scott Rudich and Rich DiLiberto of Round Guys Brewing, in Lansdale, and Rob DeMaria of Prism Brewing Company, in Upper Gwynedd, were nominated for the award. In his article for StarChefs, Alex Kalaf described DeMaria of Prism Brewing Company as having an "off-beat humor" that is "as evident in his brewpub as it is in the beers." Four vehicles were involved in a crash at Sumneytown Pike and Dickerson Road in Upper Gwynedd Friday morning, according to Geoff Patton of The Reporter. Deputy Police Chief David Poirier told The Reporter that two people were trapped and injured, and were extricated by Upper Gwynedd Fire Co. and taken by Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale to Lansdale Hospital, according to the article. An Upper Gwynedd man was arrested and charged by Towamencin Township Police for allegedly stealing construction goods from an unfinished development on Towamencin Avenue Saturday night. Claudio Antonio Anlas, 50, of the 1100 block of Bloomfield Circle, is charged with felony burglary of an overnight accommodation, felony criminal trespassing and misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 29 at 9 a.m. Bail was set at $5,000 unsecured on Jan. 20 by District Judge John D. Kessler in Abington and Anlas was released, according to court records. Marguerite Burke Miller is a cancer survivor three times over. Her battle is back again, in the form of Stage 4 ovarian cancer. Miller, an Archbishop Ryan alumnus and a mother of two living in Fort Myers, FL, has also been on dialysis ever since the chemotherapy damaged her kidneys. Miller is the cousin of Upper Gwynedd resident Joe Swaim, of Mifflin Drive. He and his wife Janet, along with Gina Burke Kuzemka of Somers Point, NJ, have organized a beef and beer benefit for Miller on Jan. 18 at The Waterfall Room by P&P Catering, 2791 Southampton Road, Philadelphia from 8 p.m. to midnight. This place is great. I love sushi and have been to all you can eat buffets before and what I love about this place is that there is no buffet.
