No Need to Panic With Impending Snow

"No need to stock up," said Accuweather.com meteorologist

The rain-snow mix headed our way overnight won't be much of anything for residents in the Philadelphia region. "It's not going to be too much," said Accuweather.com meteorologist Mike Pigott. "I do think eventually that the rain, which will be heavy at times this evening, will mix with a little bit of snow late tonight." He said the rain-to-snow crossover will occur in the North Penn area around midnight to 1 a.m. "In terms of actual accumulation, a coating to maybe an inch on grassy surfaces. On paved surfaces, you will not see much at all - very little to no accumulation," Pigott said. Tornado Not Confirmed for Lansdale, Montgomeryville

The heat and humidity ahead of the storm was like "high octane gas for an engine," said Accuweather.com meteorologist

Dave Samuhel, a meteorologist with Accuweather.com, said there was no tornado watch in effect for the first storm. He said it was tough to say if a tornado or not touched down in Lansdale. “The thunderstorm coming through had a hook echo on the radar, which you sometimes look for,” he said. “The heart of the storm came from northwest Montgomery County through Lansdale and into Northeast Philadelphia.” He said a tornado would not be confirmed until a crew is sent out to assess damage. “If trees are blown in one direction, or if treetops are twisted off or lay down in one direction, that would indicate a tornado,” Samuhel said. He said winds of around 60 mph are enough to fell trees. “Whole trees can come down in 70 to 80 mph winds,” he said…
