North Wales Police Chief Suspended from Duty

Chief Barry Hackert has been suspended by council, and Officer Terry Hammerstone has stepped in as interim chief

North Wales Police Chief Barry Hackert has been suspended from his duties by North Wales Borough Council. Hackert was appointed chief in October 2003. According to Brad Schlegel of The Reporter, Officer Terry Hammerstone is overseeing the department. North Wales Mayor Doug Ross and police secretary Gerry Fredericks were mum on further details. All comment is going through solicitor Greg Gifford, according to the article. In December 2008, Hackert was placed on administrative leave for "health and personal issues," according to Ross in an article by The Reporter. DA: Chalfont Officer Faked Shooting

The Bucks County District Attorney says a Chalfont police officer lied about being shot early Monday morning.

Chalfont Police Officer Jon Cousin, who said he was shot during a traffic stop early Monday morning, has been accused of faking the shooting and shooting himself. The Bucks County District Attorney and Chalfont officials told the press Tuesday night that Cousin has been arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and false reports to law enforcement. They said he falsely claimed he had been shot while on patrol early Monday morning. Chalfont Borough officials have put Cousin on adminstrative leave and have begun an "employment investigation" into the matter, borough manager Melissa Shafer said in a statement Tuesday night. Perkasie Cop Who Shot Marino Still on Leave

Officer Seth Mumbauer remains on leave through an internal investigation by Peraksie Borough Police

Seth Mumbauer, the Perkasie Borough Police officer who fired the fatal shot at Michael W. Marino June 9 in Sellersville, remains on administrative leave during an internal police department investigation, according to Bob Keeler of The Souderton Independent. Keeler's article states Mumbauer remains on leave, but Officer Steven Graff and Sgt. James Rothrock have retuned to duty. Perkasie Borough Police Chief Joseph Gura told Keeler that he could not comment on the findings of Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler because of pending litigation.
