Burnell, Malagari Sworn In as New Councilmen

Anne Scheuring says her parting words to a packed meeting room

Democrats Denton Burnell and Steve Malagari have begun their four-year tenure as Lansdale Borough councilmen. Both men won the General Election. Burnell replaces Mike Riccio in Ward 3, and Malagari replaces resigning councilwoman Anne Scheuring in Ward 1. Mayor Andy Szekely swore both councilmen in Tuesday at the borough reorganization meeting, with their wives by their sides. Szekely also swore in re-elected Ward 2 councilmen Jack Hansen and Rich DiGregorio. New Democrat tax collector Jim Hanratty was also sworn in Tuesday. “I’m just ready to do more hard work and keep the town on the right track,” said Malagari. “We have a lot more work ahead of us.” At the top of Malagari’s list are projects related to economic development, including …

Gifts, Honors for Councilwoman 'Lady Anne' (video)

Lansdale Councilwoman Anne Henning Scheuring was bestowed gifts by borough staff for her four years of service to the borough

All hail, Mrs. Lansdale, Lady Anne. Borough staff honored councilwoman Anne Henning Scheuring at the end of Wednesday night’s council work session for her four years of service to Lansdale. Led by borough Manager Timi Kirchner, staff, including parks and recreation director Carl Saldutti, library director Tom Meyer, parks and recreation administrative secretary Joanne Grubb and Lansdale Police Chief Robert McDyre, sent Anne off to her future endeavors with gifts representative of her efforts and history in Lansdale. These gifts included a “Mrs. Lansdale” sash, a tiara emblazoned with “Lady Anne” (for her classy demeanor) and scepter, and a bottle of Roundup weed killer, which related to the calls she made of weeds in the parks, from …
