St. Stans, Corpus Christi Churches Lose Vicars

Reverend John Wackerman, vicar at Corpus Christi, and Reverend John Weber, vicar at St. Stanislaus Parish, have been reappointed by the Archbishop of Philadelphia

On July 2, 2012, Reverend John Weber and Reverend John Wackerman will no longer be serving as parochial vicars at their respective parishes. Both vicars were part of the announced clerical appointments by Archbishop of Philadelphia Reverend Charles Chaput on Tuesday. Weber is parochial vicar at St. Stanislaus Parish in Lansdale. He will be reappointed as parochial vicar at Saint Pius X Parish in Broomall. Wackerman is vicar at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Upper Gwynedd. He has been named parochial vicar at St. Andrew Parish in Drexel Hill. Corpus Christi Parish won't be without a replacement for Wackerman. Per Chaput, Reverend Albert J. New Council, New Committee Assignments

The announcement of new Lansdale Borough committee assignments last week revealed some new leadership under the 2012 council. Council President Matt West said the committee assignments were finalized two weeks ago, but ran through each one to "memorialize" the appointments. Dan Dunigan will remain as chair of the Administration and Finance Committee. Joining him will be council vice president Paul Clemente and West. There is no change to assignments from 2011. The Parks and Recreation Committee will be chaired again by Mary Fuller. Joining her are new councilman Steve Malagari and councilman Rich DiGregorio. Malagari and DiGregorio replace resigning councilwoman Anne Scheuring and councilman Mike Sobel, respectively. Public Works Committee…

From Sergeants to Lieutenants

For many years, Montgomery Township Police has been led by three men: Chief Richard Brady and Lieutenants Gordon Simes and Mark Houghtaling. Last year, Lt. Simes retired from the police force. In 2011, Lt. Houghtaling followed suit. “They are the two gentlemen that have kept me abreast for the last 32 years as chief,” Brady said at the first Montgomery Township supervisors meeting of 2012. With the announcement of Brady’s retirement in June, it has paved the way for new leadership in the department. Deputy Chief J. Scott Bendig will take over this summer. Chimera Takes Reins in Montgomery Township as First Female Chair

Residents were appointed to various committees Tuesday night

It was Girl Power in Montgomery Township Tuesday night, as Supervisor Candyce Chimera became the township’s first Board of Supervisors Chairwoman, sworn in by new District Judge Andrea Duffy. “It’s good that the first meeting is done,” said Chimera Tuesday night. “I was very nervous, but I knew they would all have my back. I need to a get a few meetings under my belt.” Chimera said a lot of great things are coming up this year in the township. “I’d love to see the Zehr tract get finalized and finished this year,” she said. “We will be settling the new tract of land (at Stump Road and Horsham Road) in February, and we will figure out how to get community input (on what to develop on the property).” Chimera served as vice chair in 2011. …
