Lansdale Branding: Police The Logo

The Communication Commission and Economic Development Committee discussed branding touchpoints at their joint meeting Monday. One point involved the use of the new Lansdale "L" logo and policing to make sure it is used properly

Freeze! Lansdale Logo Police! As Lansdale's Communication Commission and Economic Development Committee are now tasked with being the leaders in implementing the Lansdale Borough brand narrative and brand platform into the community over the next two years, the two groups have begun talks on the how, where and what of its branding initiative. On Monday, with the aid of a 100-plus page brand manual, the groups met jointly and began to classify the implementation of various suggested branding touch points as easy, moderate and difficult — aka immediate, within the first year and down the road. What's a touch point? It is a resource or method used to build the brand in the minds of residents and visitors to Lansdale on a daily basis. For …

Lansdale Branding: Approval Not Needed, Implementation Begins

The Lansdale Communications Commission chairman, the Economic Development Committee chairwoman and the Lansdale borough manager weigh in on the next steps in the branding initiative

With the branding package in effect in Lansdale Borough, various departments will begin incorporating parts of the brand narrative into their daily structure.  For instance, the code enforcement department has begun using the logo as watermarks on interoffice memos. In the next couple of weeks, it will look at purchasing new clothing with the new logo, as other pieces of attire wear out. Few borough council members are still confused as to the branding initiative; it is not something to be approved by council — thereby restricting the borough to its logo, the "Life in Motion" tagline and various other aspects of the narrative. The brand is to be implemented via numerous recommendations by North Star Destination Strategies, and spearheaded …

The Lansdale branding initiative — logo, tagline, research and all — has been in effect for five days. Since then, Lansdale staff has seen the recommendations and how to implement the brand moving forward over the next two years. Lansdale council and the borough manager have recently responded to criticisms from residents and non-residents alike, and even outlined the goals in a brand narrative. Those criticisms were expressed by Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch fans and Facebook followers over the past week. Want to know what people are saying about Lansdale's new branding package?  You can read the first post and comment thread here.  A second posting and response on the branding can be read here. Council Responds to Branding Criticisms

Council President Matt West, Borough Manager Timi Kirchner, Communications Commission Chairman Denton Burnell and Economic Development Committee Chairwoman Mary Fuller respond to the harsh community response on the new branding package for Lansdale

Since North Star Destination Strategies' reviewed its $68,000 branding initiative with the Lansdale Borough Economic Development Committee and Communications Commission on Monday night, residents and non-residents alike have taken to Facebook and the water cooler to support or criticize the results. On Wednesday night, councilmembers and the borough manager responded to many of the criticisms they have been facing since Monday. "A few of you were there Monday night as the borough revealed our brand, and reading the articles, being there, reading many of the comments online, listening to folks around the neighborhood, I felt it necessary to talk about the brand tonight," said council President Matt West.   West said the top question he has …

Lansdale IS Great!

Mira - the Lansdale PD has been working diligently and has had many successful drug busts in 2012. Yes, there are still drug issues, along with poverty and abuse going on in the borough. Sadly, like most places. What I don't understand is what you think the borough should do about it. The borough does not provide welfare - that is done at the county and state level.   more ›

Lansdale Branding Initiative Now 'In Motion'

North Star Destination Strategies, of Tennessee, reviewed its recommendations Monday night on how Lansdale can implement the results of a branding study. The borough's new slogan: Life In Motion

After Monday night — and a $68,000 branding initiative cost — Memphis, Tennessee's North Star Destination Strategies' recommendations for Lansdale's future branding are "in motion." North Star Vice President Ed Barlow reviewed his firm's final recommendations in the branding initiative with the borough's Economic Development Committee and Communications Commission. "Lansdale: Life in Motion" is the new motto for the borough. However, the motto can be interchangeable and flexible, as local businesses and organizations are encouraged to use the new motto and logo in merchandising and marketing. For instance, "Lansdale: Health in Motion" on health-related paraphernalia. How about a "Lansdale: Dogs in Motion" branded Frisbee? The ideas are, …
