Charges Withdrawn, Felonies Remain Against 2011 Lansdale Drive-By Suspects

Two Philadelphia men charged in connection with a September 2011 drive-by shooting in the Wedgewood development in Lansdale had charges withdrawn and others upheld at their preliminary hearings Thursday morning. Police said John Sambath, 19, of the 1600 block of S. 15th St., and Christian Vietri, 21, of the 1200 block of S. 11th St., were involved in the shooting on the 900 block of Wedgewood Drive on Sept. 4, 2011. The shooting left one man injured, resulting in a felony criminal attempted homicide charged lodged against Sambath. Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Strubel withdrew the felony burglary charge and the felony criminal trespass charge against Sambath. Felony Burglary Charges Withdrawn Against Morgan Log House Suspects

Heather Spotts, Kevin Himes and Matt Copenhaver now face misdemeanor charges in connection with a burglary allegedly committed by the trio at the historic Towamencin Township-owned property

Heather Spotts, 19;  Kevin Himes, 22; and Matt Copenhaver, 21, walked into Lansdale district court Tuesday facing felony charges of burglary — and walked out with the charges withdrawn. Felony charges of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and criminal trespass were withdrawn by Towamencin Township Police at stipulated preliminary hearings Tuesday for the trio. Misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and loitering/prowling remained against all three. A misdemeanor charge of defiant trepass, however, was added against all three, according to court records. Bail for Himes and Copenhaver was reduced from $50,000 cash to $5,000 unsecured. They were released following the stipulated hearings Wednesday. Spotts was released on $50,000 …
