Residents now know sooner of later road projects
Know now. Not later. Residents affected by future roadwork will now be prepared a year in advance rather than 60 days. In anticipation of storm sewer installation along Edgemont Avenue, between Squirrel Lane and Poplar Street, and along York Avenue, between Susquehanna and Cannon avenues, a new procedure of notification to residents is in effect by the code enforcement department. No longer does the borough send out an initial letter informing residents they will be taken to court and face possible jailtime if they do not contract the replacement of sidewalks and curbs per borough orders. I do not understand why the boro will be breaking up sidewalks and curbs that are in good condition to do this work but make the homeowner pay for replacement. If I am in a store and I break a vase I have to pay for it. This should be the same, the boro is breaking it and they should replace it.   more ›
