Overnight Accident Leaves Five Injured, Route 202 Closed for Several Hours

Rescue crews had to extricate trapped passengers from the car in Lower Gwynedd.

Five were injured in a crash which happened early Sunday morning along Route 202 at Swedesford Road. Crews had to rescue three trapped victims who were pinned inside a car. According to PennDOT alerts, the accident occurred around 1:17 a.m., closing down Route 202/Dekalb Pike. The road did not reopen until 4:54 a.m. FEMA's "Ready NotifyPA" alerts showed the road being closed from Hancock to Swedesford roads. ABC6 reports that four were injured in the two-car, head-on collision. Three were removed from the vehicle after 20 minutes of work by local firefighters. That was always a tricky area. Those cars coming into or out of Swedesford are lucky if they can pull in or out of there depending on the time of day. Too many people are in the wrong lanes or not stopping at the red lights at the new bypass entrance. The curve is too tight also. Very awkward.   more ›

Police: Lansdale Woman Failed to Give Info Following Accident

Jessica Long, 20, of Green Street, was charged with accidents involving damage and driving without a license

Whitpain Township Police have charged a Lansdale woman with numerous driving offenses after she allegedly failed to give information to another driver following an accident on October 24. Jessica Nicole Long, 20, of the 600 block of Green Street, Lansdale, was arrested and charged with accidents involving damage to attended vehicle, duty to give information and render aid, following too closely and driving without a license, according to police. On Oct. 24, at 6:47 p.m., Whitpain Police responded to DeKalb Pike and Yost Road for a hit-and-run crash, police said. Worcester Man Arrested for Giving Police Fake Info

Chong Kim, 47, of Bethel Road, was stopped on DeKalb Pike in Whitpain and allegedly gave police officers a fake name and several wrong birthdates

A Worcester man was arrested by Whitpain Township Police Aug. 2 and charged with giving false identification to police, as well as driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and failure to follow traffic signs, police said. Chong Kim, 47, of the 2000 block of Bethel Road, was stopped at 1:30 a.m. after making an illegal left turn out of the Wawa at 1015 DeKalb Pike, police said. Kim allegedly told police he had no driver's license on him, police said. Kim also allegedly identified himself as Song Un Kim, with a birthdate of Nov. 21, 1968, police said. Residents Buy Time in Proposed Hawthorne Court Development

Montgomery Township Supervisors tabled a vote to approve a permitted commercial land development in order to find solutions to residents' concerns

Residents of Gwynmont Farms have bought some time before Montgomery Township supervisors vote to approve a permitted hotel, daycare and office building in a commercial district along DeKalb Pike near Welsh Road. Supervisors opted to table a vote June 27 on a preliminary and final land development plan for Hawthorne Court Associates because they want to know if a road proposed with the development is necessary to connect DeKalb Pike to Gwynmont Farms and provide for safely turning left on to DeKalb Pike. They also want to look into the possibility of a wall being erected along property lines.
