Loren Lepre and Mark Devito, of Average Superstar Films, have interviewed many a famous PAHC face for an upcoming documentary on the culture. A benefit show for the producers of the documentary rocks the Lansdale VFW.
There's no real way to define it—Pennsylvania Hardcore just is. It isn't a thing as much as it is a culture. It isn't a genre as much as it is a lifestyle. It isn't a great song as much as it is a brotherhood. PAHC exists—replicating and duplicating, on and on for decades—because millions need it to. This sonic juggernaut is the basis of a documentary by Deptford, NJ resident Loren W. Lepre and Mark Devito, produced by Average Superstar Films. Lepre heads into editing and post-production on Tuesday. This groundbreaking titan PAHC also invades the Lansdale VFW Saturday night, with a benefit show for the documentary, presented by Stay on Point Booking. Lepre said proceeds would be used in post-production and, hopefully, on the festival …

Chine, Dysphoria, Inkling and Inane - as well as hundreds of old friends and new faces - came together Friday night for an epic reunion that proved the heart of the local music scene is and will always be beating
If you were coming of age in Lansdale in the 1990s and early 2000s, then you were coming to rage at local hardcore shows featuring Chine, Dysphoria, Inkling and Inane. More than 250 came to rage again Friday night at Third and Walnut Bar for a one-night-only epic reunion of those four bands. Inkling - comprised of Lansdalians Chris Masciotti, Brian Schmutz, Brian Medlin, Tim Leo and Eric Haag (with surprise guest bass by Nick Masciotti) - reunited in what was deemed a "burial" for the band, who haven't played since Summer 2001 in Sellersville. Another stalwart of the local hardcore scene was Chine - Ryan Kline, Kevin Mooney, Harold Echols, Rick Miles and Jim Lehman - last rang eardrums and awed crowds in October 1999 at the American Legion…

Four beloved Lansdale hardcore bands - Dysphoria, Chine, Inkling and Inane - are reuniting for one show of revolutionary proportions
Marty McFly and Doc Brown (and Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale for that matter) have lied to us. You don't need a flux capacitor, 88mph or 1.21 gigawatts to go back in time. It will be proven, here in Lansdale on Friday night at Third and Walnut Bar, that all you need is a desire, a passion and a need for local music. Musician and Quakertown resident Kevin Mooney and Lansdale promoter and West Point resident Derek Calhoun, of Lansdale Local Promotions, have played the roles of Doc Brown and Marty McFly, respectively. (Of course, those that know Mr. Mooney would think that analogy may have worked better with those long-gone dreadlocks substituting for crazy white hair). The duo have organized an auditory revival of epic microcosmic proportions…

Such are the descriptors to define the first two-day Lansdale Art & Music Walk coming to the area August 17 to August 18. It all begins Friday night, August 17, at 7:30 p.m. with a triple bill of '90s local hardcore bands at Third and Walnut Bar: Chine, Dysphoria and Inkling, with special guest Inane. It is a 21-and-older show, promoted by Lansdale Local. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the Friday show and tickets are $10. It is a non-smoking event. Then, August 18 spans the entire day with artists and musicians stationed outside local businesses along West Main Street. The event is the brainchild of Sellersville, Bucks County resident and artist Amy Rims. …

Boondocks Booking and Lansdale Local present a benefit show Saturday night for John Barlow, singer of Schwenksville band Animal Haus, who was severely injured in an accident in February
This article was initially published with inaccurate and unclarified quotes from members of Dysphoria. The publication was not intentional. This story has been amended and reposted. All apologies to the band and readers. -Ed. Steve Austin. Wolverine. T-800. Darth Vader. Half-man. Half-machine. Ladies and gentlemen, John Barlow, Die Maschine aus Animal Haus. In the early morning hours of Feb. 19, the members of Schwenksville-based punk rock machine Animal Haus were riding high following a record release show at the Lansdale VFW. With Barlow on vox, Ziggy (bass), Buckles (drums) and Shawn and Schwenk had, just hours ago, performed tracks from "The Boys of Barley Hill." The next day, Ziggy posted a message on Stereokiller on behalf of Animal …

Always Remember: The “kids” are constant
There is a Halloween concert this Saturday in Lansdale, returning for the fifth year in a row. That’s half a decade. It is at the Lansdale VFW Post 32 on West Second Street at 6:30. The show is all ages, with 21 and up allowed to drink. There’s a costume contest, natch, with a prize. The Facebook event page has 99 attending guests. But here’s the treat – Nine bands. Five bucks. The Graveyard Smash, as it’s called, began as a Halloween-oriented house party at an old farmhouse in Pipersville. In recent years, it was moved to Third and Walnut in Lansdale. Each year, the bill grows a little more in size. Each year, a new scene appears at the show. Each year, the same man is behind it. One Wednesday evening finds North Wales native and local …

Actually was hoping to fly back this year when this show was going on, but alas, "life just gets in the way." These guys made high school much more entertaining. Thanks.   more ›
