King Pinz Coming to Lansdale, Lease Signed

The bowling alley and fun center will be located at the Hillcrest Shopping Center, and could open its doors as soon as December

A lease agreement has been signed between Trefoil Properties and local investment group PMC Entertainment, the future owners and operators of the tenative King Pinz Family Entertainment Center. During Wednesday night's Economic Development Committee report at the borough council work session, councilwoman Mary Fuller announced that Lansdale will once again have its own bowling alley. "This news is so hot, it's going to burn your fingers," she said. "It is with great pleasure that the Economic Development Committee, along with the Office of Community Development, announces that Trefoil has signed a lease agreement with an investment group who plans on operating a bowling alley and family fun center at Hillcrest Shopping Center." Fuller said…

@Sean C. I've driven by the property and it appears they haven't done a single thing. There's actually a "For Lease" sign in the window, so I'd guess the deal fell through. Pretty poor job by the town / the local reporters though to not even put out a press release about this. I was very excited for this project, as were a ton of my friends, but sadly it seems that it's not going to come to …   more ›

NP Board to Vote on Charter School Thursday

Montgomery Flex Charter School wants to open in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, serving students in grades seven to 12

By tomorrow night, North Penn School District parents and students will know whether or not a charter school is coming to the district. The school board will vote on the application of Montgomery Flex Charter School, which looks to open at Hillcrest Shopping Center in Lansdale Borough. At present, there are 75 students on the pre-enrollee list. “This is far beyond my expectations for how many would be interested at this time, so we are off to a great start,” said Tim Sager, founder of Charter Initiatives Inc. and director of school development at k12 Inc. If the school board denies the application, Sager said in an e-mail that the effort to bring a charter school to the district would continue. “If it is a ‘yes,’ we will continue to work …

Montgomery Flex Receives Mixed Reactions At Hearing

Pointed questions from the school board and varying public opinion highlight Wednesday night's school board meeting

If Montgomery Flex is going to succeed in their plan to place a charter school within the North Penn School District, then it's going to have to address quite a few of the questions which went unanswered during Wednesday night's public hearing. The group plans to install a charter school by the summer of 2012 within the Hillcrest Shopping Center on East Main Street in Lansdale.  The 34,000-square-foot location is the same site where Clemens Market and SuperFresh once stood. Tim Sager, a former teacher who is leading the push for the charter school, began the hearing with a public presentation in which he praised North Penn School District for being able to make the most out of what he referred to as an "inefficient model." "North Penn is a…

I believe that North Penn School District doesnt want to do this because they are afraid of the students they MAY lose to this charter school. As a NP Alumni and with 2 children within the District right now, I would LOVE to have the opportunity to send my child to where they would get individual education. My 2 have GIEPS, but North Penn rarely follows through with some things and is quite …   more ›

Montgomery Flex? Oh, yes!

A handful of parents were in support of a charter school in the North Penn School District during an information session Tuesday night

LANSDALE – Tim Sager is nothing, if not a cheerleader, for the Montgomery Flex Charter School. As consultant to the school, he aims to drive home the message to parents that Montgomery Flex is the alternative they have been seeking for their children’s education. Sager did as much at an information meeting Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church about the proposed charter school; he implored a small group of parents to show their support at a meeting of the North Penn School Board on Thursday, when the fate of the school will be decided. To make his point he stressed the differences between a student’s experience at one of the district’s “behemoth” middle and high schools, and the charter school’s “more personalized environment,” with an …

I, for one, would welcome a school like Montgomery Flex. I will not send my children to NPHS to have them lost in that giant shuffle! And how would it become an "elitist school" if there is a lottery if more people apply than there's space available? I've looked into similar model schools in other parts of the country and the results of those schools speak for themselves. This taxpayer and mom of…   more ›
